Since they’re making it for Xbox 360 odds are it will have to be or take a cut back on graphics big time.
I didn’t notice a huge step back in graphic quality for Crysis 2 on 360, which means they optimized the engine a lot.
Which also means that the PC experience will be much smoother than the first game while looking much better.
Which is all irrelevant because crysis is gay.

The story and gameplay in Crysis 1 sucked. That game was terrible. Just a graphics demo.
and yes, they were forced to optimize it really well now since they are running it on the consoles. Crysis 1 is a major drag.
I only played Crysis for 24 mins and didn’t continue. It was boring for me.
I played EP2 in oct 2007, and I played crysis around 2007 on my pentium 4, at 20FPS.
I never understood the people who said that Crysis was poorly optimized. On maximal settings it needed (back when it was released) powerful computer, but i was able to play it on minimal with high FPS on 4 years old graphic card. And it still looked great.
I loved the gameplay mechanics, it was wonderful. And story? Maybe it was not best one i’ve ever heard, but hell, this is game, story has to be epic and enjoyable - and Crysis completed this task.
Agreed. If it was not intended to be a graphics demo… it would have had a much better story. It sounds similar to the story to Halo(only at the core level though).
Crysis: The protagonists drop onto a Korean island in search of an archeologist
Halo: The protagonists crash land on an unknown ring after being attacked
Crysis: Then they fight the bad guys who were already native to the island(Koreans
Halo: They too fight the bad guys who, once again, are also native to the ring
Crysis: A new army of aliens is discovered buried in the island
Halo: The Flood is released after being sealed away for such as long time
They’re very similar stories IMO.
crysis had good gameplay as long as you played the delta difficulty level, and until you started fighting the aliens. Loved the infiltration and multi-approach aspect.
From the looks of it, Crysis 2 might be more scripted and linear and i don’t like it
Why is it that people either loved or hated Crysis. Virtually no one is in the middle.
I’m in the middle. It’s a decent, playable game, but nothing great. It could have used more optimization tho.
I’m more or less in the middle on Crysis Warhead (I haven’t played Crysis 1). It’s fun, but it’s not Half-Life.
My theory is most people hate it simply because it has such good graphics. First, their computer can’t play it on anything but the really ugly settings so that makes them not like it, and second, people have this idea that good graphics and good gameplay are mutually exclusive. They think that if a game has good graphics then that means the devs focused on graphics and threw gameplay out the door, which is obviously not true, but that doesn’t stop them.
