Drugs & Alcohol

If you eat the right amount it’s pretty awesome. If you don’t take enough you’ll just feel drunk.

I think cannibals should be legalized

https://www.theunionmovie.com - Didn’t see link to this, but I could be mistaken.

My view on it: I don’t believe marijuana is as harmful (even close) to cigarettes or alcohol, but I still wouldn’t partake of it in respects to my religious affiliation (I wouldn’t want to impair my judgment if I can help it).

My views.

Alcohol illegal? No.
Drugs illegal? No.

It shouldn’t be against the law to do weird things to yourself. Only if you harm another while on drugs have you broken a law.

I think MJ should be legal, especially considering the legality of booze. Possession was just decriminalized in Mass unless you’re carrying more than an ounce. Not much, but it’s a start…

Anyway, it’s not so much the drugs that make people stupid and/or lazy, it’s the stoner culture.

I partake in a little weed on the side, still manage a 4ish GPA…

Weed just got decriminalized in New Jersey, and New York is next. Its still illegal, but they can only give u a fine now. FUCK YA!!

sigh Oh dear. The reason that alcohol is legal is threefold:

  1. Alcohol taken in moderation is no different from any other activity (like driving). Do it too much or in the wrong way, and it can be extremely detrimental to your health and to others. Most people do it right, some do it wrong, but there isn’t enough of a harm to ban it.

And AFAIK, alcohol isn’t addictive in and of itself. Its habit forming, but so is coffee. Also, since when does it bring on hallucinations? Its a depressant, so it depresses brain activity, but I didn’t think (and I have never experienced such an effect) it caused hallucinations and the like…

  1. Banning it doesn’t work. Prohibition taught us that you can’t ban something that everyone wants, since they’ll just find another way of getting it. It means that people that can afford alcohol the least (who are, perhaps as a consequence, those who drink the most) end up spending a lot of their money to get it, meaning that you put a huge strain on the more impoverished areas of society.

  2. You lose a hell of a lot when you ban something like alcohol, both economically and socially. Economically because a lot of government revenue comes from taxes on alcohol, and a lot socially because you lose all control on the sale and distribution of alcohol. People become able to obtain alcohol at any age and at any state of mind, as long as they have money. So that means that a drunk 15 year old can go to his alcohol supplier and get as smashed as he wants, provided he has the money to do so. The whole system of RSA certificates goes out the window, and any controls are over how much people drink are completely removed.

You also lose the ability of people who suffer from alcohol related illnesses to gain access to the treatment they need to stop drinking. People who are addicted to alcohol, or who suffer other medical conditions because of alcohol can’t access the services they need. Just telling them that “its their own damn fault” isn’t the answer that you should give as a government; you send them to hospital, fix them up, put them into rehab (or give them to AA) and let them become productive members of society. Restricting people’s access to such treatments means that they’re less likely to become healthy again, which means they’re less likely to contribute to society which means you lose social and economic productivity.

Congratulations, you made the case for cannabis use. Go submit that to the local MP and stop being so glib.

Excuse me? Alcohol stimulates receptors in the brain, altering brain chemistry. Eventually the alteration becomes so severe that normal nervous system function can’t occur in the absence of alcohol. That’s the definition of physical addiction.

Hell, a quick Wikipedia search on “alcoholism” turns up the same information.

Regarding your first point moderation, the same could be said for many drugs, and illegal activities, so on that theory it is OK for me to smoke pot, snort cocaine etc. It’s human nature to feel as though you need to impress in social situations, to look for an easy and quick cure for your broken heart or to avoid social anxieties, and all of these things lie within almost everyone. As a result you drink more, you forget your limits, and then it becomes dangerous, you can overdose, or act completely out of character. Alcohol is “one of the” most dangerous drugs currently nested in modern society, fact

“The police and other emergency services are fed up with clearing up the broken bodies, broken glass, discarded kebabs and vomit which seem to follow every Friday and Saturday’s so-called entertainment in towns and cities across the country"

This was wrote in the independent regarding a rise in violent crime in the UK, for all the money alcohol brings into an economy I predict that if you was to compare it to the money drunks do to town centre’s, and the time they tie up with both the police and the hospitals, it’d be pretty well balanced

Though alcohol might not directly bring upon a hallucination, it does create a euphoria state of mind, where all the bad ideas suddenly seem brilliant, and in your head you think you’re king of the world when in fact, in reality, you’ve just soiled your pants

In regards to addiction, read up on it
This article also presents the most logical answer to what to do about booze and that’s to up the price, the more expensive it is, and the harder it is to get, the less likely you are to overdo it

As for legalizing cannabis most governments know of the “facts” but still frown upon the drug and create “scare” stories for the sheep to follow the Sheppard

Wisdom there friend

Thank God I can buy my weed at the local coffeeshop.

On topic: If it should be illegal at all, weeds shopuld only be illegal if alcohol is too. alcohol caused more DEATH, then weed ruined peoples lives.

And yes, weed is addictive, but less then caffeïne. And boy, is that shit addictive.

ps: People really started doing weed in masses in the US when it was illegalized so that was pretty, much the biggest fail ever.

Oh I see what you did there

I can’t believe how many people have fallen to the lies of the government and those retards at the anti pot groups. Your penis does not fall off if you smoke weed. Yea, it’s addictive, just don’t be stupid and smoke it every day. Geez, open your eyes people!

If they actually said that it would probably work, come to think of it.

OH NOES MAH PEENESS!!

throws roach away

You weren’t using it anyway.

throws penis away

I just hope my hands don’t fall off next, I hate playing computer games with my feet.

Here’s an idea, support your argument with something besides “you guys are all brainwashed drones of the government”.

You can’t see the logic? You must be a brainwashed drone of the government.

What about the people who are drunk 24/7? I’m pretty sure that they’re leeches on society. Weed isn’t addictive like alcohol is (it may be mentally addictive, but so is just about everything else, including food, video games, etc.), and I’m fairly sure that there have been no deaths directly linked to weed, such as overdose. I think I read something about it being less harmful than cigarettes, but I’m not too sure.

Sounds a lot better than alcohol to me. And personally, I think all drugs should be legalized.
