DreamShield install creator

This description says everything you should know about DreamShield. This install creator has a beautiful installer interface and some cool things as described above. Personally I have installed DreamShield right now but I haven’t tested it yet so I don’t know its disavantages. As far as I know, DreamShield is created by smyley that is from France so the documentation is in french but it can be translated with Google Translate. There are two sites: an english site and a french one (the official one). Also there is a forum where you can discuss.
My idea was, of course, to use DreamShield for Black Mesa. Of course the installer itself isn’t very important, but it was just only an idea - you can give it a try! Keep up the good work at Black Mesa and please release it soon!

NSIS.

This. Worked with it for a collegeproject and it’s simply awesome.

Wait, so this thread is about what you want this mod to be installed with? I thought the mod is gonna be on Steam, which installs the games.

You have to be a troll. Nobody is that goddamn perfect at stupidity.

HAHAHAHAHA oh man, this guy is to much. he’s my new favorite. (no offence lolipopboy)

DreamShield is also 100% free. It’s licensed under GNU General Public License, version 2. Also here are some screenshots from DreamShield in the french version (as I said there is also an english version of DreamShield).
And for wheybags and (rot)(fodder, please stop posting nonsense.
@SoaringScout: I don’t know if Black Mesa will be avaible directly from Steam or not.

It’s called [COLOR=‘White’]WinRar for a reason

WinRAR is a compression tool, not an install creator like DreamShield, NSIS and many others. Of course the mod can be archived and compressed without an installer, but many mods have a compressed version (zip/rar/7z etc) and an installer version or only an installer one.

I’d suggest having an installer tbh… sure most of us could handle a rar but some folks are stupid.

Just man the fuck up and make everyone use SVN.

I wouldn’t mind using svn or cvs or git or whatever they use, but I don’t think the devs want our grubby little hands on the source.

Why would that give us the source?

I suppose they could check the compiled mod into the system, but I just assumed he was talking about the source. I don’t know.

I agree. DreamShield would be nice.

7-zip has better compression than RAR, is freeware, and AFAIK, can be opened with winrar. And it’s freeware.

Just saying.

who needs winrar when you have 7zip? The only thing it can’t do is make rars, but it can make .7zs, so it’s better.

NSIS does the same thing, but it’s a moot point. The devs have said numerous times that it will be released via installer (and possibly archive, I can’t remember).

We were talking to soaringscout, not you.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
