Anyone else started it yet? I’m about 10 hours in, doing side quests around Kirkwall to get 50 sovereigns for the Deep Roads expedition, but so far it seems a bit too much of a videogame, kinda like Origins seemed like too much of a D&D tabletop game.
All I know is I haven’t gotten far enough to be bothered by the broken mechanics that made me put the first one down yet.
If the healer has a heal spell, they need to be able to spam that shit during a boss fight.
Potions not having a cooldown makes up for that.
DA2: healer can’t spam their heal spell, potions have a cooldown now.
What I’ve played so far is decent. I’m a bit angry that they just skipped over that first year, though.
Demo was meh.
10 Hours in and still not past the expedition? What difficulty are you on? I had like 80 sovereigns and beat all the side quests prior to the expedition like 7 in. Do all the side quests, you won’t get another chance and they lead to more. On a side note, I like the game a lot and it’s still very reminiscent of DA: O.
If you have a good computer, DL the High Res texture pack, looks great.
^ how could a sequel not be reminiscent of the original one?
I’m a long ways into the game and thought that it was looking like it would be a very long game. That is, until I heard that the whole game takes place in the one city, and surrounding area. I thought I was still only in the beginning stage because I was still in the city and surrounding area. No other cities makes me
@ acade, I’m just saying that because of all the claims about how DA2 is completely different and not even a similar game, I don’t even think people have played the game yet and they make claims like that.
Max, I don’t mind the one city actually, but yeah more would be nice. How far in are you? A full playthrough is supposed to be 50 hours. I think I’m gonna do another as a Rogue though, I’m a Mage now.
And are there any hidden specializations like the Arcane Warrior from DA: O?
I also get rewards from quests and don’t know how to use them I got the “Tome of the Slumbering Elders” from one of the elf quests and it’s just in my junk tab and I don’t know what to do with it. Is there a use?
I don’t think I’m too far in. I’m not advancing the plot a lot yet. I’ve done the mines and a bunch of side quests though.
Don’t criticize the game on their forums.

To me, it is a sub par sequel compared to the original and even that didn’t manage to equal Baldur’s Gate.
Already? Wow. Is it official, or made by a mod team?
Official, you can download it from the official site.
Ah. That would be crazy if it was third party less than a week after release.
I’m only about half an hour in… playing it on ps3, keeps freezing during dialogue while trying to leave lothering. Bunch of shit really.
I’ve heard it’s not as good as the first from many sources. Would you recommend getting DA2, or the expansions for DAO?
It’s a good game, but nowhere near as good as dragon age origins.
I can say I am somewhat enjoying it so far. Does seem very ‘run and gun’ though and no not much need for pausing even on hard. Haven’t tried nightmare yet though. The dialogue is also horrendous for an RPG.
Be warned though, once you pass the bone pit area you’ll find every cave to be recycled. You might spawn in a different location and the objective might be elsewhere but the layout will always be the same. Frustrating and annoying really. Budget constraints and time prevented more I suppose, shame.
Nevertheless, main quest locations seem to differ so far but if you plan to be continously entertained by side quests then be afraid, be very afraid
I hope The Witcher 2 delivers.
A pity. I was hoping for a lot more. I hope Bioware will expand on Morrigan’s story in the future though. There’s some room for hope.
I really, really think that the Witcher 2 will deliver. I’ve been following it for a long time and it’s one of the only games that I don’t think I’ll be disappointed in.
Witcher 2 does look great. I kinda already got sidetracked from DA2 cause I just bought Minecraft and have already stopped at DA. Honestly, I’m going to say that while I do think it was worth a buy and that I will beat it multiple times, you should pirate it or play the demo and see if you enjoy it at first, and then buy it if you do.
I always tell myself I’m gonna buy the games I pirate and like, but I never get around to it. piracy takes too much time for me these days anyway. good thing they released a demo though.
“Oh hey the Deep Roads expedition is over. We’re skipping three years ahead now.”
What the fuck Bioware. I thought we would get to actually influence a steady stream of decisions Hawke would make over 10 years, instead we get a (large) handful at set times that are far apart. I’d rather have it skip ahead a few months and jump around more than pull this shit.
