download tiem for CM10

right now I’m downloading CM10 via a torrent (don’t worry, I don’t plan on using the soundtrack or HD characters) anyways I’m a little concerened about the fact that the est. completion time fluctuates (spelling?) wildly and the longest time I’ve seen so far has been 2 weeks and a day! I’m taking it that this isn’t normal? if so what’s wrong and what do I need to do?

help is much appreciated.

Edit: sorry, that title should say Download Time

You need more people online and seeding. I think, I’ve never actually personally used a torrent, so you may want a second opinion :stuck_out_tongue:

if your ports are forwarded correctly and the necessary tcp and udp traffic is getting through there really isn’t much you can do besides pray that there will be enough seeders to provide a decent download speed the rest of the way through

edit: :ninja:

ok, sorry guys, I really didn’t understand much of that, My fault. I should have explained the part about me knowing very little about computing. sorry, my bad.

explain the ‘seeding’ part to me, I did see that in my BitTorrent client?

https://netforbeginners.about.com/od/peersharing/a/torrenthandbook.htm

let us know once uve read that, what we said should make more sense

EDIT: that link doesn’t explain much, this is better

I’ve found only 1 single torrent for CM10 LE (without all that crap) and it has 1 seeder who only turns his PC on once in a week or so. I’m now at 60.8% after a week and a half. I still cba to download it in parts from rapidshare. :stuck_out_tongue:
Is that by any chance the same torrent you’re using?

How big is the download?

If you’re asking me then it’s 3.80Gb and consists of split 7z archives.

If you’re asking OP then I obviously have no idea.

It took me less than 5 hrs to just download the full mod and delete all the stupid stuff myself.

What I’m trying to say is that you’re wasting time.

I’m not exactly holding my breath you know…

From what I’ve read, it’s over 9 gigs

if you are using utorrent as your client, check that the little icon in the status bar is a green tick instead of a yellow exclamation sign.

I’ve always wanted to try it, not as a replacement of course, just to see what I like and what I don’t like. I don’t really like the HD characters judging from what I’ve seen. I did like their ending for Ep2. The slow motion scene with I’m Sorry from the I Am Legend soundtrack.

Are you allowed to post the link to it on here? I know torrent links aren’t allowed but it’s not piracy. It’s a free modification.

The link to the actual website is here, and it shouldn’t be too difficult to locate the download section. Just make sure you choose the latest version, 10.40, and then get the 10.42 hotfix (the torrent has both hotfix and mod).

I recommend downloading the torrent rather than using the FTP or rapidshare links, since I’m getting moderately fast speeds of 1mbps on it, so seeders seem to be doing their job.

I’ll play it not as a “better” replacement to HL2, but as a different version of it; I suggest you do the same, and you may find you’ll enjoy it more than those against it.

dude just download jDownloader and copy paste that RS list. you can configure it to give you a new IP address every time it starts a new download, there is no need to manually download each part are you crazy

edit: or just download from filefront I just tested it downloads at 1MBps at least

starting from the top.

no I’m downloading the full version + 20.40 hotfix. I plan on configuring it to get rid of the models and soundtrack. when you think about it, the LE is pointless, and it’s untested and unsupported anyways.

and now the ETA has gone to 9 hrs & 20 mins. lol. I did say it fluctuates wildly. it’s also on 56.6% of the way there and counting. last night when I left it, it was on 18.1%.

oh, and thanks for the links russilker.

I get what’s happenning now, this thread can be locked. I just wanted to be sure there wasn’t a problem of any sort.

again, thanks for the help y’all.
