Disney now owns Star Wars and other Lucasarts-related stuff.

Discussion and whatnot.

Can’t be much worse than what Lucas did to the series

Hell, that would be my response even if Uwe Boll took over as director

Wow, so this means we’ll get to see some Star Wars not made by George “I have the imagination and writing ability of a 5 year old” Lucas? This ought to be good. In fact I’m kind of excited now. I mean Pirates of the Caribbean and The Avengers came out of Disney technically, so there is a precedent for good live-action films there. Even if ends up being more like Tron Legacy, it’ll be a vast improvement over the prequels. I just hope they don’t allow his “creative consulting” to have too much effect on the end product.

I can’t see them being any better than the prequels. And you just can’t beat the original trilogy. I swear, if it turns out anything like those stupid Clone War films, I’m boycotting Disney.

I honestly don’t see why everyone hates the prequels…

https://redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/ Just take the time to watch through these reviews and you’ll understand just how bad those movies are.

And it’s not like Star Wars was ever only intended for an older audience. No, I’m pretty sure they were more aimed towards children and teenagers. Hell, last time it tried to be super mature we got: “I’ve seen a security hologram of him… KILLING YOUNGLINGS” which was fucking stupid.

Wow, the forum’s attitude has changed a lot since I last bothered to take part in a discussion

Yeah, Disney owns a lot of studios that make adult content, and they stay pretty independent. So don’t worry about Star Wars suddenly becoming a franchise for little kids only.

That’s fucking dumb.

You people act like this is the first time anything like this happened. Remember when Disney bought Marvel shortly before producing what has been the most consistently well produced super hero films in the past three decades? Say what you will about “hurr durr generic action” or what the fuck ever, they made an impact. Plus, you know what else Disney has pretty much owned forever? Mirimax. The company that brought you LOTR and such. You know what MIRIMAX owns? Dimension films. The company that brought you PULP FUCKING FICTION.

Pulp Fiction is a Disney movie. Buck the fuck up.

wright now, the way they are maintaining the franchice is with prequels and re-releases, while trying to expand its universe with more media.

Yeah, but they’re making a new trilogy. It’s not like they lack the resources to do multiple things at once.

Who knows, remastering the old movies might give them some good experience for making new ones.

If they do any remastering, I really hope they find the original (or as close to original as possible) film and do their own remaster, and JUST REMASTER. No adding stupid pointless CGI crap, no adding narm-tastic krayt dragon cries or tension-breaking NOOOOOs, just make the original look good. Basically, I hope they listen to fans a little bit. Not too much, cause a lot of fan ideas suck, but a little bit.

Han shot first.

episode 7’s plot is already spoiled:
https://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/New_Republic_era

wouldnt be surprised if Yuuzhan Vong appeared in the trilogy

We don’t know what era it will take place in.

it will take place in the new republic era (the era right after the classic era, which contains movies IV, V, and VI)

disney (hopefully) isnt dumb enough to make the SEVENTH movie set around the Legacy era, which is a era at 100 ABY (ABY standing for After.Battleof.Yavin IV) by which time Luke, Leia, Han solo etc. in layman’s terms, would’ve died of old age and therfore the story would revolve around the decendents

everyone and their dog should know that a next trilogy WILL show Luke rebuilding the republic and the jedi order. Before, Lucas stated he would NOT make a sequel trilogy, but then disney came…

Would be cool, but would Hamill be up for it?

I mean, he’s kinda moved on.

I’m sure they all want it behind them.

Also, Hamill hasn’t aged especially gracefully.

I would just like to see them have a mention of the Ssi-Ruuvi Invasion and entechment; I just got done reading “Truce at Bakura” a little while ago and would be interested in seeing how the story continued in movie form directly from the end of RotJ.

No, that’s what you think the movies should be, not what is undeniably true. Get off your high horse.
