Disappointingly easy games

games where you were disappointed by the lack of challenge.

for me it would be Resident evil 5 and Deus ex 2

Star Wars The Force Unleashed II. Though really that game was just a disappointment in general.

Portal 2 and LIMBO.

I thought it was one hell of a tough game… THE BOSSES TAKE HALF AN HOURRRRRRR :fffuuu:

Tough to sit through maybe. The boss battles were almost unbearably long but that doesn’t make them tough.

To be fair it was enjoyable…for the three hours I spent playing it. The campaign is shorter than the damn boss battles, and I bought the friggin Collector’s Edition. 80 bucks I’m never getting back.

Command and Conquer 3.

HL2.

Good thread. After this long, original general discussion is hard to come by. If I had to pick just one off the top of my head, I think I’d say Dead Space. That was kind of pathetic.

Half-Life 2: Lost Cost

I’m glad to be in the apparently tiny minority of people who found Portal 2 harder than the first one. It wasn’t exactly VVVVV, but I had several major headscratching moments. I thought the first one was a breeze by comparison.

As far as easy game go, I’d go with F.E.A.R. Even though I really liked it overall, I’d never sailed through a shooter like that at the time. It should have been much more difficult.

uhhh am i a bad person if i say i found both mass effect games disgustingly easy on everything but the two highest difficulties

The easy games are the best games because after you finish them easy games you are forced to take ya ass outside and get some sunshine.

Not really, but easy and normal aren’t meant for people who are already good at shooters and rpgs, and for those that are, veteran is just there to make your first playthrough a little bit challenging so that it’s fun, but not so difficult that the pacing of the story is messed up. Hardcore and Insanity are the modes intended to be difficult, for an added challenge after you already know the story.

The problem I have with having to ratchet up difficulty in games is that its not difficult by design really. The game isn’t built around the extra difficulty, its just a careless crank of numbers most of the time. It usually ends up making it more frustrating that it should be even though its more difficult. I think Witcher 2 is a good exsample of a game that pulls of being more difficult by design, it never felt cheap when I died in that game even though it was harder than most.

On Topic: Tell Tale’s games I understand that for a long time point and click games been trying their very hardest to avoid frustration. And I get that they don’t want to kill players. But why must every puzzle feel easy and simple and never make me feel accomplished.

Portal 1. Portal 2 was fine, but P1 didn’t have anything that really made you think once you got the hang of it.

Portal 2 could have done with a few more portalable surfaces to increase the difficulty a bit, but overall it was as difficult as Portal 1.

Needed challenge modes too.

Well, with any luck it will get them in the DLC.

Read and profit.

On-Topic: Half-Life 2. Admittedly I didn’t know about those commands till later, it made game-play a hell of a lot more enjoyable.

Transformers: war for cybertron and Red Faction: guerilla.
