Dino D-Day

Has anyone else noticed that Dino D-Day is on sale for pre-order for $18 on Steam. The reason I’m bringing this up is because Dino D-Day is a HL2 mod that is available for download off of Desura for free. This just got me thinking that if Dino D-Day can be put on Steam for distribution than maybe Black Mesa can too.

Ohohoho. You are writing about a mod. That was free before. Now on sale. And posting this topic in this section of the forum.

:expressionless: … about money god ?

Shit did I just get myself banned or something? I’m really just curious on how the developers of this mod were able to put this for sale on steam, I thought that no one could make money from a HL2 mod. Anyways I’m sure Black Mesa will always be for free, if some people are worried about that, because thats how its always been advertised right on the home page. I was just thinking that if Dino D-Day, a mod no one has really even heard of, can get distributed through Steam than surely Black Mesa can.

Don’t take it serious man, I was just kidding.

It’s an indie game running on Source. The HL2 mod was just a prototype for the game.

you need to buy a source engine license, than you have rights to sell it, like garry did with gmod…

the main (and fairly obvious) difference is that BM is not just any mod, it’s a complete recreation of a commercial game (half life)

Yeah, these guys bought a license; the “mod” was just a test.

Now the real question: is this going to be any better than the demo? Because that was pretty disappointing.

Dino D-day is a terrible game.

just thought i’d say it before some poor sap looks into it.

You could, of course, take out every reference to Half-Life, rename everything, and title it “Balck Meas”, which may or may not have been the original intention of that particular sister mod.

Thanks for the info because now it makes sense . I figured it was the same mod I played for free. I never meant to imply Black Mesa could be sold on Steam because of the obviouse intulectual rights issue I just thought that it might be possible to download it from steam for free once its released. Since Dino D-Day bought the Source rights however it look like they paid for their distrabution rights however and this thread its pointless and means nothing for BM.

It’s not a complete recreation until it’s complete.

I wouldn’t look into it. The demo version was messy and disappointing, if that’s a reflection of the final quality then don’t waste your money

when did nazis join the stable of random cheese lol “awesome” stuff that retard nerds love like pirates or whatever cuz its pretty creepy imo

Say whaaaaaaat?

That’s what I meant.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
