Deus Ex Universe & New DX Game Revealed

A post to the Eidos Montreal blog reveals Deus Ex Universe and a new Deus Ex game, that’s in the works.

Meh… I dislike the idea of expanding the universe via tablet and console games… Comics and novels are fine, though. Regarding the Games,it doesn’t work that well, lastly seen with DX: The Fall (or Fail?). DXHR also had some serious “consolisation” I wasn’t too crazy about as a PC Gamer. But I hope they will get rid of some flaws of DXHR and give us a new, shiny Deus Ex for NextGen

I don’t care for mobile device games, but I do look forward to another full fledged game. I really loved Human Revolution. Not as much as the original game, but it was still a quality sequel for me, and I want more.

i hope this new deus ex not only stays true to the original, but also to the likes of system shock (deus ex was made by warren spector, therfore it is one of the spiritual successors of system shock)

deus ex vs system shock: same cyberpunk style, same technology+philosophy moral theme, same rpg/fps gameplay (moral dilemmas influence your decisions and game’s ending)

bioshock vs system shock: retropunk rather than cyberpunk, moral themes involve technology+philosophy as well, rpg/fps gameplay (moral dilemmas influence decisions and game’s end)

in many ways Deus ex is like bioshock, so i hope deus ex Universe takes a system-shocky direction

Concept Art

i see a sign on the top right saying “Quebec 123 [color=red]DX4

yet at the same time there is a poster at the bottom left with EU symbolism and “CZ” (presumabally czech republic?) and a sign a little lower saying “Talos the Arc” in english

so did bob page construct a ghetto french-canadian, enlish-speaking EU state?

or could deus ex universe potentially be set after invisible (boogaloo) war?

Wasn’t The Fall actually alright and the only reason people are bitching is the platform?

Deu Sex should return to its roots, nano augs, JC Denton one liners and painfully realistic conspiracy theories.

Watch Dogs took the glory with the latter two of those.

human revolution had relatable conspiracies

though it has moar anarchism

Thing is, the good original old-school cyberpunk conspiracies used in Deus Ex make a material for much cooler plots and are generally much more atmospheric.
That watered down glittery crap from HR - not really. Doesn’t mean it was poorly written (well some of it) or poorly executed, it still held me up until the very end - just the premise wasn’t as good as in the original.

I fear watchdawg will suffer from the similar thing, cause modern hyperrealistic IT/surveilance-related “iphone conspiracies” as a rule of thumb are mind-numbingly fucking boring. I mean, duh, the gameplay mechanics are pretty cool, but premise is most likely gonna be lacking.
