Deus Ex Human Revolution

well, consolitis, stupid guards, and the obvious and convenient locations of, well everything, aside, that was one of the best games I’ve played in a while. one of the 15-20 games ever that were actually worth the retail price: good story, great atmosphere, beautiful detailed and lively world, plenty long, grand, immersive…

defending the downed chopper was the high point IMO, loads of fun after playing stealth all game to finally be forced into some urgent open fighting, finally put the EMP immunity to good use, and break out the revolver with explosive bullets.

final battle was a bit disappointing, I saved up SO MUCH fire power for it, and it was over with just a few grenades and a few shots from a heavy weapon, easiest of the 5 battles by far.

didn’t exactly like the “choices” at the end, wish I could have [COLOR=‘Black’]stopped the signal without broadcasting anything or destroying that trillion dollar facility, or better yet, broadcasted my own message with a simple truthful recap, or even better yet, let it go and be the only aug left

Now it’s time for Eidos to remake the original. I tried replaying it a while back but it’s just too dated now. I don’t understand why the gaming industry keeps making new crap when they could be remaking classics. :rage:

I just bought it off steam, is still downloading

Edit: Also, about how long is this game?

I’m at 24 Hours and still going. Probably 85% done now. Playing on… Well, Medium difficulty really. o.O

My friend done it in 23 hours, though he did rush through it a fair bit.

Edit: These had to be taken, after knocking him out…

Playing on Give Me Deus Ex and after about 10-12 hours I’m still in the asian city. But I’ve been doing every single side-quest I come across. I think I might be about to leave the city, though.

But shit on my dick this game is fucking incredible.

Yea, Depends completely on your play style…

My friend’s at 10 hours now and not left Detroit for the first time.

The game took me 27 hours on Deus Ex difficulty, and I’m sure there was still a lot I didn’t do or see. For some perspective, it takes me about 18 hours to play through the original on Realistic difficulty, and it took me 24 hours the first time I beat it on normal.

oh my god, i thought you were talking about black mesa
i am close to tears now. and i feel sick.

I’ve spent about 25 hours by playing DE:HR for now (steam reduced that time twice to 14.2 hours, not sure why) and I have around 85-90% complete (i think) Playing directly on Give me DeusEx difficulty - pacifist/exploring style  Enjoying as much as possible and looking forward to play it again without setting off any alarms
EDIT:
Does anybody know… “setting off any alarms” means no alarm launched by AI? Or to do not allert AI at all?
Is there anybody from thoose 0.8% of players finished HR with this achievement who knows the answer?

Yeah, I suppose. Thinking about it now, keeping them around after beating them for some forms of benefits woulda been nice. Oh well, a flaw on an otherwise amazing game.

I appreciate it.

I’m on the hardest difficulty, about 27-28 hours in and am currently fighting Namir… Shits hard.

Then the game industry would be going down the same route as the movie industry, where people would be complaining about the lack of new and original content. A remake is a nice surprise to receive every now and again when technology advances far enough from the original to deem it appropriate for one to be made.

Remakes are by definition stagnant, and stagnation in an industry is a terrible thing. They are rarely excusable, and even then its only when they rethink a property. Having said that, remaking Deus Ex could work if they bring the art style in line with HR and modified the layout of the levels. But at the same time, I’d prefer a new game.

Does anyone else has this laggy cursor movement (on Pc) in game? I’ve seen this in a lot other ported games and it makes the game almost unplayable. Especially when you just played TF2 before (raw mouse input) .

I had that problem, but I just lowered the setting a bit and it went away.

Ambient Occlusion is an fps eating machine, just disable it.

They can get to ALARMED, as long as no one ever gets HOSTILE to you you can get Foxiest of the Hounds. But you can’t let them hit alarm panels either. (I like to hack them so they can’t if things go wrong. I also generally reloaded any time someone got alerted because I’m perfectionistic like that.) I managed to get that achievement on my first playthrough, but it didn’t give me Pacifist despite only killing boss characters. I don’t know why. It makes me wonder if my save-scumming and occasional frustrated blasting of people that gets repealed after a load counted against the achievement O.o;

As for my review: If you’re playing it as a stealth game, it’s easily the greatest game ever made. If you’re trying to play it combat, prepare to become bald from all the follicles you pull out of your head unless you make smart use of cover and the element of surprise.

Can you perform non-lethal takedowns during the prologue mission? I killed the guys during that part, will that mess up the pacifist achiev?

According to the official guide, those don’t count. There were a couple times where the body of someone I did a takedown on clipped out of the map, in which case I blame the game.

(I did try to do non lethal takedowns during that part, but there were no prompts allowing it. You pretty much have to kill them. I’ve heard it’s possible to sneak by but really difficult.)
