Crytek's Petition for a New TimeSplitters Game

https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/crytek-uk-create-a-timesplitters-hd-collection

To gauge the demand for a new TimeSplitters game and/or HD rerelease of the prior three titles, Crytek has singled out a fan petition stating that if it reaches over 300,000 signatures, they will consider development of a new title in the franchise.

I don’t know about you guys, but I was a fan of the franchise, and I had used it as a reason to play something besides Halo at console LAN parties. Support the petition, and at the very least we’ll see an HD collection.

No.

Why not?

Didn’t the company that made Timesplitters go under after making a really shitty game about drugged-up soldiers?

Edit: They were also apparently working on Battlefront 3. :frowning:

Free Radical was bought by Crytek and is now called Crytek UK. They’ve worked on the multiplayer modes of Crysis 2 and 3.

I believe they were working on Timesplitters 4 before they got bought out. It’d be really cool if they made an HD collection of the TS trilogy with working online multiplayer and map editors. And then a Timesplitters 4 using the CryEngine would be the cherry on top.

I couldn’t agree more.

Sure Free Radical made extremely poor decisions when it came to Haze, but that doesn’t mean they can’t make great games. They were from the team that made Goldeneye, and subsequently Perfect Dark (my favorite game). They went on to make TimeSplitters which were hailed as the spiritual successors to the games developed at Rare.

I believe, if given the chance, they could easily redeem themselves with a return to form.

Is most of the former Free Radical team still on Crytek UK? I have no idea if anyone left.

According to wikipedia, Free Radical fired most of their staff even before they were acquired, so it’s unlikely.

Shame. Puts a lot of doubt on the possibility of a proper quality Timesplitters sequel.

Not to mention Battlefront III.

Edit: never mind, actually; according to wikipedia they lost the contract for BF3 in 2008.

That’s just not fair. :frowning:

That does indeed change the situation a bit, however it doesn’t mean that we wont get a quality product out of a TimeSplitters sequel, despite lacking the original team members.
