Crysis isnt working.

Hi all, ive had this problem for a while now, when ever i boot Crysis i just get a black screen, have to ctrl+Alt+Delete to get out and cancel it or press ESC and that works.

Was working before any updates, so, I removed all the updates, and all of the games (maximum edition) and all registry files, nothing left of it, so reinstalled.

Still not working, black screen follow by ‘program not working’ from windows.

Im ALL up to DATE drivers wise.

Windows version? Graphics card? SLI or Xfire? Overclocking? Any 2ndary monitors attached to the machine? Do you get sound while the screen is blank? Did you check for and delete the Crysis profile (should be in C:\Users\YourName\MyDocs\MyGames\Crysis if Windows 7, C;\Docs and Settings otherwise)?

Let us know

Were you a dumbass and bought the game with a GPU that can’t even handle the game? Try dwongrading your drivers. Driver updates are like game patch updates. They fuck up as much as they fix.

Crypt, don’t be an ass.

Windows 7 64Bit
i7 920@2.66Ghz
Asus GTX 480
6GB DDR3 RAM 1600Mhz (7-7-7-20)
Everythings at stock clocks.

Completely FRESH installation, no Patches to game since, i have them available though.

Black screen (ultimately a crash) No sounds, nothing, just an error message on the desktop.

When i did the uninstall for Crysis is chose to remove save games and profiles, but not for Warhead.

Fact is game ran fine on the current drivers i have now.

well there’s your problem

thats cute, garg knows how to colour scheme.

Unless you got anything good to add, piss off.

Why? the tempratures? NOT a problem, there great cards, and they deliver.

wow this forum is full of asses.

Damn Straight, although i was half expecting to see a useful comment from you bro.

I don’t think it’s your hardware that’s the problem. Did you download it from Steam or did you buy the disc version?

  1. It’s not the GTX480 since I played it using two of them in SLI.
  2. It’s not his drivers because he knows his shite.
3.1 Right Click > Properties > Compatibility Mode > Windows Vista SP2 or Windows XP SP2

no?

3.2 I would look for a No-CD crack for 64 bit because that fixed it right up for me.

^^^

What that dude said. It’s more than likely something wrong with the disc. When I first bought Crysis, I had received errors while installing it. So I returned it, got another copy, and everything was good to go.

Wait, so you’re saying i should run it on vista sp2 or xp sp2?

Disc Version (Maximum edition) include Crysis/Warhead/Wars. (the CD is fine.)

I had the exact same problem 2 days ago; I just assembled a new system with Windows 7 64bit as well…

You need to set the compatibility mode of Bin64\Crysis.exe AND Bin64\Crysis64.exe to Vista… Not sure if changing it via the shortcut works well, better change it from the exe’s properties directly.

Edit: I did that with the 1.1 version of the game

There all set to Vista SP2 and still no joy. :frowning:

Gonna patch to 1.2 see if theres any joy.

and will possibly try different patch versions. may install JUST 1.1 like you have said Sam.

Install 1.2 but DO NOT install 1.2.1 since that patch is for 32bit users only. I’ll look for the link and edit this post.

EDIT: https://www.megaupload.com/?d=PVCVF2Q0

Save this to your C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64 folder, then execute the patch. Once it’s done, you SHOULD be good to go.

I’m trying to follow this thread to help fix my crysis game aswell. my symptoms are the game EXTREMELY slowing down after 20 minutes of gameplay. It will have very very horrible fps for about 5 minutes, then return to normal. Thing is, after that, it repeats every 5 minutes. I was going to try your crack victus, but the rar file is password protected):

Password is Tooth

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Are you sure your temps are fine? Overheating can cause systems to crash and lag like this.

@OP
check your windows error log and see if it finds any faults
