what I got from that is he didn’t play crysis because it played differently from an FPS
And don’t tell me Far Cry 1 was worth playing for the story. That’s like saying excessive drinking of alcohol is good for getting enhanced reflexes.
In fact, based on what you said you like, Far Cry 1 is the exact opposite of anything you want to play a shooter for, as is the game your name references
A nice texture pack will make the nanosuit 1.0 good as new.
And yes, the controls for the original nanosuit were excellent.
The nanosuit 1 had real modes- all your abilities would change slightly to reflect each mode. There was real strategy in how you used the modes of the suit- especially due to the changing limitations. For example, speed mode made you much more vulnerable to bullets, and running really fast drained energy. You really had to think about opportune times to use it. This added some nice strategy into the gameplay.
As for the actual design of the suit- obviously the design of the Nanosuit 2 is much more detailed overall. If the nanosuit 1 had that kind of detail, then people might think differently about it.
The difference from the default textures are striking, and it makes me want to play the game in third person just to see the suit. (I guess I could do that in the sandbox or something. ) It still may not have as many polys as the nanosuit 2 but this texture mod brings the nanosuit 1.0 up to crysis 2 quality, if you ask me. The default nanosuit 1.0 textures weren’t very well mapped in the first place…
personally, I didn’t really like that one. I got one that was more like a simple really detailed retexture that didn’t change the colors that much because I found that one looked too smooth for my taste.
They did do a good job on the environments so far, but I hate how all these game’s PR need to show off set piece moments in trailers nowadays. That dam breaking would have a much bigger impact if it wasn’t seen until people played the game.
I do like that they are adding alien weaponry in though. Hopefully it’s a better chance to express more creativity hand have more unpredictable weaponry rather then overused stereotype weapons.
And I really hope the suit isn’t as weak as it was in Crysis 2. I WANT FUCKING FISTS BACK GOD DAMNIT
How many of you guys will be able to run it with all the bells & whistles turned on(I know that the system requirements aren’t announced yet but I think that we pretty much know them)?
Crytek needs to bring back the fists and speed mode. One of the nice things about Crysis was/is that I could choose how I wanted to play it, even if it meant running around strength-punching enemies (which can be quite effective). I’ll bet it’s EA’s fault…
EDIT: Okay, not really EA’s fault.
As for Psyco, I suppose I might be able to get used to the new voice, but it’s a shame. Maybe the other actor was unavailable.
Also, the nanosuit looks as fragile as it was in Crysis 2. It seems you can barely do anything without worrying about energy. This makes things unnecessarily difficult.
More and more it seems Crytek is using cutscene-like sequences. Valve would never resort to this.
I wonder how “open” the world really is. How much will be scenery and how much will we explore? Will it be a huge open world with missions- the world changing as you complete each one (like that dam breaking)? Will we explore different sections of the city one by one? Will anything take place outside the “nanodome”, or are we stuck there the whole time?
The environments are very interesting. I don’t mind that it’s new york at this point- it seems they are doing something interesting with it. I understand the game was leaked, and they may not have been prepared for a diverse amount of gameplay to show off. We can only hope the next trailer shows us something good (without too many spoilers).
Wait what? You can’t choose which mode your suit is in? If that’s true I’m definitely not even thinking of buying this. And it was just starting to look cool too .
