See it is statements like this that are just insulting. Yes, there is. The book of Genesis is believed by many to have been a compilation of personal accounts or diaries of many of the main characters of the old testament. Adam, Noah, Abraham Enoch Isaac, and Jacob all have kept historical accounts of their own lives and what they witnessed. Therefore it is easily assumed that these documents were passed on from one generation to the next till the point that Moses put them all together.
But, as I said, isn’t possible that, along the lines, the meaning was slightly altered? If God says one thing, someone transcribes it, someone else copies it, someone else copies it, new edition, etc., it’d be like a big giant game of telephone.
But there are also areas in the old testament where God specifically said “write this down”. So it is safe to say that from the very get go, God knew the verbal telling of a story would get watered down. That he wanted it written to keep better track of what exactly happened. And as far as it getting interpreted, well it would mean the person translating it would have to know the originating language. Therefore they would understand the meaning and know the intended story and apply it accordingly. You can see the scrutinization even today when you look up a passage and then see the footnotes on the words used and how the original translation is seen.
Free Radicals, to my knowledge, are caused by radiation from the sun. For instance, UV rays chemically react with Compounds and elements in the skin, causing mutations to occur, Skin cancer is a known mutation caused by UV rays.
Perhaps my post seemed like i was saying all mutations come from free radicals and all free radicals do is cause beneficial mutations. what i should have said is that mutations usually occur from radiation, the presence of Radicals explains why the average human absorbs so much radiation in their life time. The vast amount of energy coming from the sun will influence the organic chemistry that we are made of.
This whole chunk of text mostly talks about the negative effects, but wouldn’t also explain the neccasary changes in our cell structures to develop certain traits, this of course would be very minor amounts of radiation effecting very minor parts of our DNA, but over a couple billion years, these mutations would build up to the point that you are looking at an entirely new species.
I feel that if there is no religious sort of afterlife, heaven and hell etc, our souls will carry on. Another plane of existence, reincarnation here or on other planets, anything is possible really.
Right, it’s the random influence of radiation on cells, and beneficial influences occur randomly, which is what my original post said. The ID argument could hypothetically be that it’s not random, it’s the designer’s choice.
Of course they are useless outside of their environment but they’re prefect for their own environment which are in all cases always on the planet every since they’ve existed. And scorpions are like the first animals that have walked on the planet. They’ve survived just about everything. How can that not mean it’s a perfect animal.
So it’s adapted to a great deal of situations and environments, it’s still not perfect. Perfect is basically a shitty term, because in reality nothing applies to it, except perhaps the universe.
It’s adepted to ALL kinds of situations and environments on this planet. It adapts quickly and his design hasn’t changed all that much, with the exception of a few ancient ones, which died of quickly.
Just like to get the free radical business out of the way.
Free radicals are molecules or compounds which naturally have an odd number of valence electrons. This means that the molecule searches violently to get just one more electron to fill its outer shell. This means it is highly reactive with…almost anything. It can combine with another molecule, a metal, a single element, etc.
Therefore, if introduced into the body, they do have a high chance of bonding to other molecules, such as DNA.
So if it has adapted to all kinds of situations, how come I can kill it by smashing it with a rock?
Or perhaps we could let one loose in the northern parts of Scandinavia, and see how long it lasts there. If evolution made something perfect, it would thrive in all environments, and it would be impervious to all kinds of attacks.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
