Also: I’m considering starting a sound pack replacing all dialogue, so Barney is Microsoft Mike or whatever, Grigori shuffles around a half dozen eastern european languages, and combine are Macho Muscle Men.

Hey Black Mesa I think you’re great and ima let you finish, but Research and Development was the greatest mod of 2009.
I wouldn’t consider this the best mod of the year, but I’m throwing it out there since “Research and Development” has been taken and “Black Mesa” isn’t out yet.
Korsakovia was just released. It’s made by the same people as Dear Escher, but instead of just being very poetic and scenic it takes the great writing and audio from Dear Escher to make a psychological horror game. I haven’t actually beaten it yet, but so far I find it really well written and plenty terrifying. https://www.moddb.com/mods/korsakovia. If in the end it ends up totally sucking, I would at least give it some award for incredible audio and atmosphere.
I actually didn’t like dear escher, but then again I missed parts of the dialogue because I was bhopping everywhere, and also found a bunch of spots where I could get out of map.
