yeah, only you have to actually point at the kinect and not at the monitor itself. It’s not like screen-you distance is comparable between PC and Xbox as well… you get the idea
But yeah, the second vid sorta proves me wrong, as the guy still has to be further away from the monitor

Anyway, that indeed seems like the only thing Kinect would be useful for, considering all of the games for it are terrible.
I think Kotaku (in the same article as this) said that it was ironic that all of the great ideas for the Kinect had nothing to do with gaming, except perhaps the lightsaber one.

it can be done with the wiimote, hell I’ve done something similar with the regular sixaxis ps3 controller, it’s really not that great.
