Consoles vs Computers

We’re forgetting the obvious PC exclusive here. Hint: it starts with Half, has a dash in the middle, and ends in Life. Edit: although I guess that kind of falls under older games…

Also, a lot of games that have console versions are better on the PC, like TF2, simply because they have lots and lots of updates that keep the game relatively fresh. Expansion packs as well, console games (at least before the advent of DLC) typically didn’t have these.

The opposite is also true, though, as in the case of crappy console ports.

I appreciate the point support, but both Half-life, and Half-life 2 also had console releases.
It is more rare for there to be a feature stripped down version on the PC than it is for a feature stripped version on the console. The release dates vary on both sides. PC ports are sometimes dumbed down and poorly functioning ports though.

oh shit, you’re right… :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

I meant the original, I know the Orange Box was on consoles but I guess I was just thinking about 360/PS3…

EDIT: Late post is late

And In case it wasn’t pointed out clearly enough, Half-Life had a Playstation 2 release. Until just recently, Half-Life Decay was a console exclusive.

The fact remains that exclusives particularly apply when you factor in the better supported genre points. Not every person in the world likes FPS or RTS, which from what I’ve seen covers about 90% of the big PC exclusive titles. By the same token if you don’t like Platform and adventure games that will take off 90% of the big console exclusives, but that’s why I’ve moved it from a console strength to a neutral point.

Heck PC exclusive also has another issue: Just because it only runs on PC doesn’t mean that it can run on any PC. Do we then treat those games as if they were designed for a different console generation and therefor counted separately? This doesn’t just mean newer games not being able to run on older computers, but also older games not being able to run on newer ones.

With the right software you can make just about any computer backwards compatible.

TF2 is pretty much a PC exclusive. The consoles have a nice demo of it, but the PC has about 20 times the content.

Exactly, baconeggs.
DosBox is great for that.
I even got Civilization for Windows running without a fault on Vista, without even having to set compatibility settings!

EDIT: This. This makes me happy: https://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1081088

nice comic. I laughed.

Wow, you’re being dense.

I told myself I wouldn’t get into this redundancy thread, but that’s the most ridiculous quote I’ve ever seen.

And before you start up the flamethrower, I prefer PC gaming.

I didn’t mean to be, I have a PS3 and have clocked more hours than my PC in the last few years. What I mean is that there aren’t too many absolutely stunning console exclusives, while I admit there are more than 5.

So you’re saying anyone who thinks PC fanboys suck (like every other type of fanboy), must suck as well? And are also Americans, who are apparently stupid be default?

Wow your dense.

Actually you see, in the comic it states that a large amount of Americans are stupid, which is undeniable.

And people say we’re influenced by how the media portrays other countries. Hahaha

Alot of Americans are ignorant, not just stupid. Though many aren’t.

You can say the same damn thing about any other person. It all depends on your beliefs and ideologies on whether or not someone is “stupid.”

I could say Australians are stupid and can’t look out for themselves because their government bans the sale of video games that they feel are “harmful to children”, but I know that’s not entirely true.

I am well aware of that, but I lived in America for a couple of years so have enough knowledge to not make a completely blind claim.

Wow, there you go switching your logic whenever it seems favorable John. I said a “large amount”, and you say “not entirely true”, and yet you respond with this:

We said similar things and yet you act as if I’m wrong.

Well John this is the part were I call you an ignorant fuck. I’ve lived in America and I know from experience, it’s a similar situation up here in Canada too.

Also the comic was meant to be FUNNY. Who cares about stereotypes, I find British stereotypes hilarious (big teeth, posh accent, cricket) yet it is not close to the truth. Some people need to take a joke aimed at them/their country.
