Console vs. PC gaming

Most of the big titles use upscaling from the lower 600s. GTAIV, Halo 3, Modern Warfare 1&2 are nice examples. You can’t really see the difference, but the hardware is very limited.

On water it remains quite cool, but I’m not saying it’ll use less power lol. And it’s a brilliant GPU, that’s for sure. Just look at how it responds to overclocking.

The only problem with Nvidia is that they don’t follow the basic laws, processor chips are supposed to become smaller, cooler and less energy demanding. Not the other way around.

This. Although up until my friend got water cooling, it did tend to run very hot.

That is nothing

No, transistors are supposed to do that so an equally performing processor will become smaller and cheaper to manufacture OR making a faster processor of the same size. Example: what Intel is doing with their HPC processor (failed Larrabee), is simply fitting a shitload of Pentiums on a chip the size of…a Pentium (with 15 years in between atm lol).

I’d rather have a 5970. At least I can’t boil water on it, and it’s faster.

That’s because it’s a 300W card with a 400W cooler on it.

And is still faster than the GTX 480. And cheaper, if I remember right.

You really don’t know much about videocards, do you?

Idle, the 5970 takes up about 4 more watts than the 480. Under load, it takes about 26 less watts than the 480.
Idle, the 5970 is about 4 degrees Celsius less than the 480. Under load, it’s about 12 degrees less.

That’s just with the stock coolers though, the Toxic version remains at a very cool(compared to other high-end cards) 41 degrees Celsius above room temperature but sucks up a huge amount of power for it’s cooler.

He does know about video cards but a lot of results are over-exaggerated.

I do, as Door said. I’m also not biased toward any one company, as you clearly are. I’m actually using a 9800 GT right now. But my next card is going to be an HD5770.

I’m aware that the GTX 480 is a GOOD card. But it’s still incredibly big, and runs very, very hot. Not everyone can afford a decent water kit for their computer. Then again, I doubt most people can afford the 480, either. And after looking at pictures, yes, the 5970 is slightly bigger. But it’s also a dual-GPU card. And it’s gotten higher benchmarks over the 480 in every one I’ve seen.

Being a PC fag is hard. I’ll be talking to someone and they’ll ask what my gamertag/PSN is, and I have to say that I don’t have a console. They ask why, and I reply that I find it a waste of money to have either when my PC can run them with better graphics, mods, and mouse+keyboard controls. Then a crowd gathers and I’m called a cheater because I can’t play Halo without installing a mod, (I guess they confuse mods with hacks?) and I care more about a game’s graphics than gameplay, (Thief 2 and Half-Life anyone?) and I’m a pussy because it takes more skill to wheel a knob around a controller than use the platform that first-person shooters were designed for.

These people are the reason I play multiplayer solely on PC, because it seems as though there is an intelligence limiter when it comes to people you come into contact playing through Steam/Hamachi/other online thing. Sometimes it’s quite depressing to hear about some of the Live shit that happens.

tl;dr: Consolefags are from America, glorious PCfag master race are from Scandinavia.

Are you guys dense?
Consoles are for the winners.

lies

fps=pc. everything else=pc.

It’s bigger than everything because… it’s big. And ugly.

so what? your life doesn’t depend on being able to play those games.

If a game is only available for consoles I just don’t play the game. I’m not going to rush out and buy a XBOX 360 or a PS3. not now, not ever.

I’m a PC gamer dammit!
