just wondering but not rly relevant but kinda relevant
does the case u have really matter a lot because ive rebuilt my entire computer like 3 times since 2005 but had the same case lol
seemed like an ~unnecessary expense~
mayb if its a turdlord glowy window box thing or just noisy as fuck
Not really, I do the same actually. I’m still using an old big tower case. The only problem I had was that some of the cables of a modern motherboard were no longer compatible with the case (for example the little light that shows HDD activity).
I wouldn’t buy a case even if didn’t have one.
Honestly depends, you pay for what you get with cases, you spend £100+ your going to get lower temps, more room/easier access etc… I owned my little Antec 300 for a while then 6 months later got an NZXT Phantom, it’s nice, but a dust magnet. then there’s people who don’t understand the look/aesthetically pleasing side of cases, they need help. but If I buy another/new case, It’ll never be cheaper then the previous.
It’s like a body kit for your car. not necessaries but you got the extra money to splash, and I like a nice case it’s more enthusiasts about the hardware then people who run a good pc for games.
My Current Specs:
CPU : Intel Core 2 Quad 2.40GHz (Overclocked (by magic) to 2.80 GHz)
RAM : 4GB
VIDEO : GeForce 9800GT
SOUND : Integrated SigmaTel (Good sound quality, but doesn’t have all the features I want)
HDD : 500GB Seagate ST3500630AS
And thanks for the info about the mobo fitting the case. I checked, and my future mobo is supported by the future case. (Although, I will probably change the case.)
EDIT: Also, sorry for taking so long to reply.
EDIT2: It would be very difficult to reuse my case, everything has giant plastic covers with screws that are in very VERY deep holes with part of the case obstructing the hole, almost making it impossible to unscrew them. Dell clearly doesn’t want me using this case for anything other than their hardware.
Why do you feel the need to upgrade? You should be able to play many modern games on very respectable settings… find some info on your power supply, you might want to upgrade your video card and it needs a capable PSU, but your processor should be good for a while…
And don’t reuse an OEM case like Dell. They often have proprietary power supplies (you won’t be able to upgrade easily) and their power connectors/HDD indicator lights also have proprietary connectors.
I already researched my PSU, that’s why I got the 9800GT instead of anything higher. My PSU wouldn’t be able to handle it. My computer originally came with an 8600GT.
The graphics are all that I am able to upgrade, anything else and I’m afraid my PC will kick the bucket, so to speak. I can’t necessarily upgrade anything else, anyway for the reasons stated above about the covers.
Also, I want a computer that is less restricting and doesn’t come with all the crap that Dell PC comes with. I want to use something I KNOW will run well and that I don’t have to have to have any fears of it breaking down because the company decided to use cheaper parts in certain areas. ex. the PSU
EDIT: About the case, why do I need to choose another one? It appears to be pretty good. It allows two fans; it has a plethora of front plug-ins; and it supports a bunch of extra front panel hubs and hard drives… if needed.
Whats your case budget, my model, I can vouch for and you’d love to work with it, I know it’s more expensive, but it’s better then wanting a new one later and spending more.
I see newegg have special editions which look ACE. Mines in plain black and looks pretty boss.
I’ve looked at that one. I may get it. It does look pretty damn awesome, I’ll admit.
It’s bang for buck, Plus the case has the ‘solid’ feeling many people crave. was such a joy to work with.
Alright, I added it. Hopefully everything fits correctly. I’m mostly concerned about the power supply.
Now, I just have to wait a while for that $1,005.89 to fly into my pocket.
EDIT: After reading some reviews about the case, I’m not too sure about it. If I have to buy their brand fans for it, I’m not entirely sure I want it; especially since their fans aren’t the quietest.
That’s only the top 200mm fans. everywhere else fits every other fan I know of.
I also hooked a blue tri-cool to the front and put it in the fan controller/powered from it to.
It’s JUST the top fans and the optional 200mm in the side door, and to be fair, the 200mm fans on full rpm sound the same as on minimum, their very quiet. (non of which I will even have in the case when I water it.)
Alright. I’ve been thinking of doing liquid cooling, but I’ll wait on that until I get the initial system built. I don’t have that much money
I dunno if anyone has suggested this yet, but the Corsair H70 is (IMO) one of the best CPU coolers of all time.
Haha that thing looks awesome. I might need to check that out when I get some extra money. Especially since my heatsink now is gigantic and needed to be mounted on the bottom of the motherboard.
I hate to revive this thread after such a long time, but I would like a final opinion on the components in the list, as of now.
I’ve finally conjured up most of the money needed, just around $300 more and I’ll have it. I believe my parents shall be paying the rest for me.

5 months later, you make up your mind? Dear god.
5 months later, I finally conjured up the money.
EDIT: My main concern is whether the graphics card will fit or not.
For that, you should ask google. Just google “does [card] fit in [case].” I guarantee you someone somewhere will have tried it and posted about it on the internet.
The comp looks pretty good. Why are you ordering six 120mm fans?
