everyone in the country is talking about “Colorado” and I’m guessing everyone in Colorado is talking about “Aurora”
this kind of thing is a very local event-- going to a movie premiere is something locals do-- whereas a hotel bombing or campus shooting affects people from a wide variety of locations across a nation (and then earns the title “national tragedy”)
You hate when people make jokes about tragedies or dead people but you totally would go ahead and wish it upon on someone??
In the latest news, they say the shooter bought in the last two month before his act 6000 bullets/cartridges.
Either he sucked on maths or got a discount because I don’t see anyone carrying around that much ammo, even soldiers.
This is NOT a national tragedy. Civilians get shot in drive-by shootings every other day or week, but those aren’t national tragedies. People in the middle east see terrorist bombings every other week or so, they don’t turn those into National tragedies.
You are taking this out of proportion. I’m pretty sure the main reason this spread on the news so fast was because it was the Midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises. If it had been at another setting like a bank or a food court it would have been somewhat different news-wise.
Long story short, stop being so sentimental. You probably don’t even know anyone who was there. It’s not like we’re spitting on their graves, pretty sure everyone respects the dead, other than a few nut-jobs. They are making fun of the incident, not the dead people. (2nd time I said this)

Don’t mind him, he’s German. I’ve lived here long enough to know that most German’s have next to no sense of humour. (some do of course, but most don’t)
Also, they get butt hurt even if you mention one of their ‘banned’ words in a non-joke sentence.
I used the word ‘Aryan’ to describe someone with blonde hair and blue eyes and a German near me went fucking insane; “YOU CAN’T SAY THAT WORD!!!”. Aryan is a nice adjective to describe someone with these particular features. The Nazi’s didn’t invent the word and since it was used in a purely neutral way I was a little surprised by the major butthurt.
Also, someone got pissed off at me for mentioning ‘camp’. We were talking about a fat guy and I said he should go to a camp to lose weight.
But since the Germans I was with were complete morons they seemed to think that the word ‘camp’ can only be used when talking about murdering Jews. So they freaked out and got angry at me. There’s such a thing as a fucking FAT CAMP!
So now I many talk to the Russians living here. At least their heads are not placed firmly up their own asses.
Oh yeah…Don’t mention ‘Walls’ in Berlin. They freak out about that also.

I do have a sense of humour, but it stops when making jokes about shootouts (in this case even involving children), that’s all.

While I do admit that I know only a superficial amount concerning life while the Berlin Wall was up (yeah, I even went to the DDR museum. Although I should say that €6 to enter two small rooms and read information lifted from a Wiki article really pissed me off) But I really don’t think people should get so upset when I simply observe that the wall isn’t that high.

Shanghai. Chinese have quite a nice sense of humour. Most of them think the government are a bunch of douchebags, but they still prefer them over having someone like George Bush in charge. Which is understandable when we consider that one douchebag caused China’s economy to explode into awesomeness, while the other caused America’s economy to explode into feces.
Although it’s hard to say that Shanghainese are a fair representation of all Chinese since Shanghai is very different to the rest of the country.
