COD IN SPAAACE

What he said. Also, movie graphics whores are more whorey than video game graphics whores because in video games graphics are a larger part in immersion and as such more necessary.

Uhhh, I’ve seen it once and haven’t really looked back. Plots complicated enough to warrant second- and third-viewings, who invest a great deal in special effects, are movies for special-effect buffs. It gives them a reason to re-watch all the pretty shit.

A complicated plot is not necessarily a good plot.
Likewise, a simple one isn’t instantaneously bad.

I am not a fan of many films, and Avatar remains among the unrevelled. But I can see no reason to complain of it. The deformity you focus on, its straightforward story, is found in many films. But the reason you’re not picking on those is because they’re already recognized as classics… from a day when simple plots were still new experiences.

Erm, go watch Spartacus as portrayed by Douglas. We know from the beginning that the man is destined to fail, eventually. The plot does not become convoluted at any point. But it remains good. And you can’t start flinging grafixhores as a scapegoat-reason Spartacus is revered, as is also true of the classics.

To bring comparison into the modern age, Avatar was like Independence Day. Simple, even contrived, also plagued by having good special effects. But you cannot, by any means, call it a bad movie.

lol, topic

I think Call of Duty should never have left WWII. It’s okay to move onto other projects (in fact, please move on from WWII, it’s been exhausted in recent years) but good heavens, give it a new name. If this CoD-game-formula being set in space had a unique name, there’d be no controversy to warrant a thread.

If I recall, they were actually going to drop the “Call of Duty” from “Modern Warfare 2”… but decided against it after some polls revealed they lost 60% name recognition that way. Gamers are marketable…

I get as immersed as fuck in Battletanx 2 for the '64. When your movements become that of the game’s, you don’t need graphics to immerse you. I don’t see why a bloody tank needs phong shading. Likewise, I don’t regret needing to run STALKER on minimum settings.

Save that stuff for the movies, where you’re given near-infinite render time, and anything less than real sticks out like a sore thumb. There’s a reason Lucas used models of ships and of the Death Star’s trench instead of just cartooning them onto the film.

“CoD in space”…reminds me of “Muppets in Space”…

Well anyway, That’s another great game down the drain. Oh well, There is still CoD Vietnam from Treyarch this coming November to entertain us one last time(if it turns out good that is :frowning: ).

The CoD games should have definitely moved away from WWII. The last thing the FPS genre needs is another WWII game. Trying to find a different period to base things in can only make the genre move forwards; rehashing D-Day just made the whole genre stay stagnant.

You mean shouldn’t. After 3 they should’ve just stopped an move on to other projects. Because, as beautifull as they looked, the last 3 did not deserve the name Call of Duty. Call of Duty 1, 2 and 3 where some of the best shooters I’ve ever played. Unfortunately, the new employees thought the same, and with new employees I mean fucktards that don’t know what they’re talking about, who thought it was a good idea to continue the series with modern combat. If CoD 5 was CoD 4 (and got some tweaks) and Modern Warfare 1 and 2 where separate projects, I’d still have respect for IW, and I’d still play the games.

Call of Space: Modern Fishing

I’d buy it. :retard:
