CoD 1: Game of the Year Edition (PC) Help

I just recently Reinstalled Call of Duty on my PC. This PC (which is actually a laptop if that makes any difference to any of you) has run it just fine for the past few years. But this time, it didn’t work. When it finished installing, and it came up (the main menu) the entire thing was blank. You could hear audio and you could click on the different things, but when it finished loading, it brings you right back out to that main menu, and a box is there. Only problem is, I can’t read that box either, so I can’t fix it.

This also happened on another PC (this one is about 12-14 years old) and it also had no problem running it up until that point. and the same thing happens to it every time. I have tried reinstalling it again and uninstalling and shutting it down numerous times, to no avail.

I have heard about this happening before, and it was something about registration files or something. Is that the problem?

EDIT: I remembered something happened during the installation. When it was downloading from the first disk, it stopped and a box came up, saying it couldn’t find it. I took it out and put it back in after trying the second disk, and it worked fine. Then the problem above happened.I don’t remember if this happened to the older computer.

update drivers, update directx, install latest patch, make sure it’s installed correctly

that’s about all you can do

Buy a console, never have to install a game again.

inb4 PC fag rage

You got the original copy? (Pss, not like it matters anyways), try downloading the CD1 from a torrent site or something and reinstalling it with that

More like " Buy a console, get stuck with fixed graphics and no customisation and a large player base of 12 year old kids, wish you had a PC"
:retard:

I think, looking at his avatar, he’d be quite happy with a player base of 12 year olds.

explination required

You appear to resemble aforementioned 12 year olds.

Is it me or because PC Gamers can’t make a valid point they have to then go completely off the subject and say crap like “lol u look 12 and have no penus LOLOLOL look at my mouse”

:hmph:

Eh, you guys shouldn’t had replied his comment in the first place… you know, when they say “don’t feed the troll” ?, yeah, don’t

I don’t believe I ever said Consoles were better either, I just said you don’t have to install games on consoles and then pointed out that because I said this PC Gamers will immediately rage.

If you said “Xbox’s are crap because they’re xbox’s” I would agree with you, they are, but then you went completely off the subject and started commenting on how I look instead.

And console gamers are the immature ones

:hmph:

u mad?

very

I prefer Pc’s. Mods, max the limit, and I am way better at FPS when I am using a trackball mouse. SO no consoles please. I only own my Xbox cuase it makes a good DVD player :retard:

I will try what you said…dickface (?). Thanks for the help so far.

I just dual screen my pc if I want to watch DVD’s, would rather my xbox didn’t eat my DVD’s…although I’ve only seen a PS3 do that and getting it out of a PS3 once it’s been eaten is ridiculous

WHAT DID YOU CALL ME

Anyways, maybe your disc is damaged or something, so you could try downloading the game as suggested earlier. You can still use your own CD key so it doesn’t make any difference anyway.

Ungrateful kids :meh:

You asked me to explain my fucking comment! Yes, I’m a PC gamer but I have no problem with consoles. I genuinely do believe you look about 12.

Because that’s relevant and was vital for this conversation :retard:

Edit: Maybe we should call it quits and say we’re both wrong but we love each other at heart because this conversation is spiralling out of control and I love you 0_0
