Closed Captions Update [Hazard Course Captions Available(Works only for Mod Version of Black Mesa)]

I changed up how the captions fix works by having 2 separate downloads. One download would be the Stock and Surface Tension Uncut versions of the patched maps (which also includes the patched On a Rail Uncut C map if you have that mod installed) and the other would be the captions fix for whatever mods you have installed. This is done so that I don’t have to make an On a Rail Uncut version of the captions fix. You’ll need to download both of them in order for the captions mod to work properly.

Now that I think of it, I could add a patched version of Text’s B1 map to the Stock and Surface Tension Uncut versions of the patched maps so that I can get the captions for the “Shoot him in the face!” scene to show up.

This update includes captions from the B1 map. In order for the captions for that map to work properly, you will need to download one of the versions of the patched maps first and then download the captions fix for what mods you have installed in your BMS folder. After you extract the patched maps to your BMS folder, make sure the graphs folder and the map files (bm_c2a2b1 and bm_c2a2c) are moved to the BMS folder’s maps subfolder (this is for anyone who’s playing On a Rail Uncut). After that, you can extract one of the caption fixes to your BMS folder.

If you already downloaded one of the versions of the patched maps, please redownload it. I realized that I made the sound for the dialogue much louder than it was in the original version of Text’s B1 map. This should be fixed now.

One more thing!

Apparently, the stock version of the captions fix didn’t have the sci_eli_notellingwhatdanger01 reverted back like the other 3 versions. If you’re using the stock version of the captions fix, please redownload it.

A minor update editing a couple lines.

Please keep up your commitment/dedication to this project. DON’T ever think that it’s NOT appreciated.

I appreciate it immensely.

I am just waiting for the Steam release of the game…

I hope his contribution will not go unnoticed in Steam version

Thank you, Dadster.

Thank you, Salk. I’m looking forward to the Steam release as well.

I hope my mod gets noticed too.

Well, I meant your mode.

Awsome mod  you should make subtitles for the unofficial XEN mod as well, for the gman and for the nihilanth, get 0.1, install it, and then install 0.11 on top of 0.1 -DELETE the C2A5H from the SCENES folder of the mod and make your own scenes.image with sourcesdk, if you have UPLINK installed, check the chapter_manifest.txt and re add it in there, do the same for the bms_english.txt file…

A few days ago I discovered a working len:X command, that can be used in subtitle text. It’s necessary if we want the subtitle stay on screen for longer than 30 seconds. Just set the desired duration in seconds (replace X to a number greater than 30, that is). See the code below.

"VO_inbound_tram.tram_06_pleasekeep_wav" "<len:32><I>Please keep your limbs inside the train at all times. Do not attempt to open the doors until the train has come to a complete halt at the station platform. In the event of an emergency, passengers are to remain seated and await further instruction. If it is necessary to exit the train, disabled personnel should be evacuated first. Please stay away from electrified rails and proceed to an emergency station until assistance arrives." "VO_inbound_tram.tram_07_areminder_wav" "<len:36><I>A reminder to all Black Mesa personnel: Regular radiation and biohazard screenings are a requirement of continued employment in the Black Mesa Research Facility. Missing a scheduled urinalysis or radiation check-up is grounds for immediate termination. If you feel you have been exposed to radioactive or other hazardous materials in the course of your duties, contact your radiation safety officer immediately. Work safe. Work smart. Your future depends on it." "VO_inbound_tram.tram_08_doyou_wav" "<len:38><I>Do you have a friend or relative who would make a valuable addition to the Black Mesa team? Immediate openings are available in the areas of Materials Handling and Low Clearance Security. Please contact Black Mesa personnel for further information. If you have an associate with a background in the areas of theoretical physics, biotechnology, or other high tech disciplines, please contact our civilian recruiting team. The Black Mesa Facility is an equal opportunity employer."

Thanks! I’ll try that out.

Closed Captions Update v1.31 is here!

Hi everyone. It’s been a long time since I updated this. For almost 2 years, I never knew how to fix an issue with several lines where certain Inbound and On a Rail captions (the last map to be specific) would fade out before you finish hearing them. Just recently, TSL16b told me that there’s a working command called len:X which is used to keep subtitles on the screen as long as I want it to. Thanks to him, this issue is now gone.

Note: If you never installed the captions mod before, you will need to download either the Stock Base or the Surface Tension Uncut Base depending on whether or not you have mods like Surface Tension Uncut).

Closed Captions Update v1.32 has arrived!

The Announcement Vox captions have been updated to look more like the Steam version’s Vox Captions (Color changed and italics added in).

Alright. With the Black Mesa Hazard Course officially out, new versions of the Closed Caption Update are here. If you are planning to play this with Surface Tension Uncut, Uplink, or both, please follow these steps.

 1. Install the Hazard Course along with either STU, Uplink, or both.

 2. Download and extract one of the patched maps into your BMS folder. If you do not want to play Surface Tension Uncut with the Hazard Course, download the stock version of the patched maps. Otherwise, go ahead and download the STU version of the patched maps.

 3. Download one of the versions of the Closed Captions. If you have HC and STU installed, click on here. If you have HC and Uplink installed, click on here. If you have all 3 of the mods I’ve mentioned installed, go ahead and click here.

Thanks for making STUncut, Uplink and Hazard Course all compatible with each other!

You’re welcome.

If you’re playing the game with Hazard Course with Uplink or playing it with those 2 and Surface Tension Uncut, please download them again immediately. The bms_english.txt file (which contains the HUD hints) was outdated in those versions of the captions update. I’m sorry for not properly updating that file sooner.
