Closed Captions Update [Hazard Course Captions Available(Works only for Mod Version of Black Mesa)]

Most of the updated captions will work even if you don’t have any other mods installed, but I’ll definitely make a vanilla version of the update. I wish I thought of that sooner.

Edit: It’s now out.

Version 1.18 of the update has been released.

Links are the same as before. Also added a Uplink version of the mod.

I even decided to remove the caption hotfixes. It was getting overwhelming for me to update both the big versions and the hotfixes at once.

Nevermind, Error Post.

I have released Version 1.19 of the update.

Another small update like the previous one. As always, the links are the same as before (I like Dropbox for this).

Links are the same as before. If you want to know what’s in the latest update, please read the 2nd post of this thread.

Pretty big update for all versions that include Surface Tension Uncut captions! The links are the same as before.

I decided to make a quick hotfix. I replaced the modified patched Forget About Freeman map for all versions that have Surface Tension Uncut captions with a patched version of TextFAMGUY1’s Forget About Freeman map. I fixed an error in his version of the map via Entspy where it was not showing the “[Radio Static]” and “[Radio Off]” captions.

Another update for the mod. Links are the same as before.

Manged to get Source SDK to compile captions despite some issues with it right now. Links are the same as before.

I’m currently in the process of converting all versions of the update to RAR files as they are compressed better than Zip files. As of right now (11:08 PM CDT), the Stock Version is being converted. All versions should be converted within 24 hours.

When each one is being converted, the old link will be removed and a new one will be replaced when each one is ready.

Edit: Stock Version of Update has been converted. New link available.

Edit #2: Uplink Version of Update has been converted. New link available.

Edit #3: The rest of the versions of the update are currently being converted. New links will be available when ready.

Edit #4: All versions of the update have been converted to RAR files. I may change them to 7zip files sometime later.

If a lower compression ratio is what you want, then you should switch to 7-zip. Far better compression than RAR.

I’ll try that.

Edit: It’s done.

Thanks to Entspy, I managed to get the Launchpad and HECU VOX captions for the On the Rail Uncut versions of the mod to show up.

Edit: I also updated what each version includes and installation instructions in the OP. Will update the readme soon.

Closed Captions Update v1.25 is now out!

It’s a very minor update editing announcement VOX lines and the Launchpad line.

I have decided to put the patched version of the OaR Uncut’s c2a2c and a separate graphs folder in all versions of the mod. Because of this, the STU/OaR version & STU, OAR and Uplink version of the mod have been removed. The OP and the readme files will be updated due to this change.

Edit: The four versions of the mod are ready.

Sometime ago, Dadster once told me that people would be less likely to download every update due to small updates with big file downloads. With this in mind, I came up with a solution to prevent having to download the same patched maps over and over again for each update.

Two of the versions of my mod (Stock and Surface Tension Uncut versions) are now the bases of the captions update mod. You need to download that and one of the caption updates for one of the versions of the bases. If you any mods installed (or more than one if you’re using the STU Base version) however, don’t worry. You will have the option to download a captions updates specific to the mods you have installed.

You may have noticed that 4 versions of the caption updates that have Hazard Course mentioned don’t have any links to them. The reason is because the Hazard Course mod is not out yet. When that mod is out, I’ll release the other updates.

Edit: I just realized that I need to put in small captions updates for stock and STU version like the others. Will remedy this very soon.

Edit 2: Fixed. My post is edited for the small change I made to this format.

First update in the new format.

Closed Captions Update v1.27 is now out! First update in over a month. Please read the changelog post to know what has changed.

Hello everyone. It’s been a long time. How have you been? I’ve been really busy being dead… Just kidding. I’m fine.

I’ve got some good news: After one year since bringing the first version of the Closed Captions Update, I’ve finally fixed an issue with the grd01_idle_physicstorocketscience lines! These lines are for the following dialogue in the end of the Power Up chapter: “Man… Theoretical physics. And now rocket science. Good thing one of us was hitting the books while the other one was chasing tail. Or… ya know… just playing computer games.”

After almost 5 months of no updates,

Closed Captions Update v1.28 is finally here!

How come there’s no “On a Rail Uncut” version of this captions fix?
