Close to death Idea

I have a suggestion for a near death idea. Once your health gets to lower than 20%, you start hearing your heart beating. After 10%, Gordon goes into panic mode, which then your weapons seem more powerful and accuracy is greatly increased in fear of death, which would probably happen in real-life. Things would seem slower at 5% and for a death idea, Gordons life could flash before his eyes quickly before you die.

Just a thought :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a cool idea, and it would work well for other games, but it doesn’t really fit in with Half-Life. Also, minor suggestions should go in this thread:

And it’s a bad idea since it would start to get annoying after some time. It’s not call of duty where you immediately regain your health. Not to mention that it’s just too much work.

Gordon’s HEV suit with it’s morphine delivery system keeps him in a healthy state regardless of physical damage.

“We’ll need o run a few blood tests to make sure you’re okay… hrmm… odd… blood is usually red… most unusual…”

“well Gordon, your results came back. You apparently don’t have any of your own blood left. What I extracted from you earlier was apparently pure morphine.”

Actually when you panic your accuracy decreases, this is because your muscle twiching is increased and your shots tend to be hurried. Also the lower your health gets the less you are capable of fighting. Things seem to happen faster than they are and your body has trouble keeping up since it’s trying to heal itself.
Your idea makes as much sense as being able to sprint faster with broken legs.

Does the US army use health packs these days?

In fact, do they even issue helmet’s with heads up displays that give you real time status reports on your armour, health, ammo, inventory, and location of enemies relative to your postion? That’d be sweet, lol.

Also, inb4lock. :stuck_out_tongue:

i actually really like this idea, and i think it would work  maybe another mod team should try it? lol

No.

and so ends another exciting suggestion in…

the suggestion Box

I believe you mean the Süggestive’s Box.

 No.

yes…yes of course

No. This goes against Valve’s philosophy of minimal character awareness to create immersion. YOU are Gordon. If you want to simulate this then start walking instead of running when your health is low, or crouch and look at the ground when you take a bad hit. Me being the hardcore roleplayer that I am I’ll usually stop moving and hide behind cover for a few seconds after taking a grenade hit, even though I can still move normally gameplay-wise.

Half-Life’s immersion is so good as-is that I often find myself ducking from enemy fire, leaning to avoid grenades, etc. As stupid as that sounds

It would be a good feature if there was an on-off setting.

i can see that being true 50% of the way through the game.

LOL Looks like I’m wrong! Thanks for teaching me that though!

Yeah, that sounds stupid.

That’s most likely why I do it too.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
