I don’t see how it could improve game play.
I like it in L4D because the whole thing was supposed to be joke on zombie movies, so its fitting.

Your logic is flawed. Let’s pick this apart shall we.

That doesn’t mean anything. He could have just found the mod, saw how epic it is, and wondered if the team would use their resources to remake these other games he likes.

Again, you assume he lurked for a while and didn’t just join.

Or maybe he assumed that the you’re an exemplary member of the BM forums and was scared off.
You’re right on most counts i should have looked a little more instead of starting the thread. Time wise ive just got alot of things to do besides check forums every day, and yes JohnKiller seeing these exemplary members does make me want to post less . You guys are ruthless
tbh, i liked fakefactory, i selected the high res texture versions of the original models (not the Barbie ones) and deleted all the music files. now it plays just like the originals with updated graphics, eli, alyx and everyone else looks the same, but better.
^ fakefactory is interesting, for about five minutes; but I have a somewhat of a common computer (for this day and age: Pentium d 2.6ghz, nvidia 9600 1 gig of memory 4 gigs of ram) and FF runs like shit. Just to make myself clear, I don’t want BM to incorporate any features that FF uses to slow my computer to a crawl. That being super high poly count models, and super high res textures.
EDIT: RellikGod, Why are you arguing your thread in mine? Just send him an email, or private message or something. Welcome to BM forums by the way, read the FAQ’s (no hostility intended).
I am reminded of this quote:
^ lol, that’s so cool I never read that.
i never understood why people bitch about the models, being as anybody with half a brain can change them back to the originals. as far as a mapper goes, hes good, but as a character artist, hes Dr. Frankenstein.
actually, now that i think about it, most people probably hate the mod because they can’t play it since he did a terrible job at optimizing it, and they mask it by saying its all about the ugly models.
Anyways, I’m glad hes not on the BMS team, he seems like the kind of guy you would need a very tight creative leash for. like Ram has said, the team walks a very fine line between playable and Epic engine crashing.
I wasn’t bitching, I know you can change the models back, and I don’t disagree he is a good mapper. But your right, The only reason I don’t like the mod is because I cant run it, and what’s the point if you delete all the models and their high res textures?
As for the regular textures, they still make my computer lag (like going from ~200 to ~90fps), and I prefer high fps over them. Plus HL2 is already really polished without FF.
The only HL2 textures that bother me are the traintracks (gah flat rails without any curves) and that one insanely low-res door texture with the masterlock on it.
^ i noticed that same texture is in Condemned, monolith being another seattle-based developer. I wonder how many locations they both scouted for texture reference
interesting kind of [COLOR=‘DarkSlateGray’]cinematic lensing going on there.
I think that’s just the shockwave effect.
I figure so too but it looks more “lens”-y than I expected. still looks damn good so I’m not complaining.
It is the shockwave effect. You can see this in action on the trailer (at 00:55).
yeah…
wait what the hell? what is that screencap from?
Angr-i mean, Depressed Panda.
uuuh, that’s not a real black mesa screenie, is it? Can we have a source, link to where you found it?
Did you miss all of the amazing media posted on the wiki today? Or just that one?
Edit:
It is, or else Carlos would have removed it.
ooh, shi- well I gonna sift through the wiki now, it just striked me as very odd how the legs are, and the fact that it has the HL2 health HUD. It must be an older screen shot…
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
