Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

https://www.gamespot.com/news/6286666.html

So the new Call of Duty game isn’t going to take place in space, I was so looking forward to it. Also I searched and the closest thread I found was: https://forums.blackmesasource.com/showthread.php?t=4140&highlight=Modern+Warfare

I was a little disappointed in the fact it wasn’t going to take place in space, since I would like to see how they were going to work out the story on that one.

Do you like this approach of having 3 different companies making the game and would you rather have it take place in space? Discuss.

why space ?

I would like it, to take place in a modern war scenario, having the unchanged MP, using the same engine like the 3 previous games, blowing half of the earth up in a single atomic explosion and the task to kill 1.000.000 russians in a 2-Man-team, that would be very innovative.

And don’t forget the level where you run round a hospital tearing apart babies with your bare hands. It’s OK though, because your character feels bad about it and if you want to you can just watch the rest of your team do it even though that tacitly means you’re OK with it anyway.

We have a gaming forum Ooga. I’m surprised no one has mentioned that to you, since you have made two game related threads in this section of the forum.

More modern warfare? Isn’t it getting a bit old now? I would be even remotely interested if it was future warfare. Not like lasers and shit, but near future combat, say in the next 50 years or something. Less real world restraints and more room for possibilities.

That’s not what people want, they want the same game, over and over again.

That’s basically what COD is, so good for the people that want it.

call of duty is made and only made for the sake of being a totally mainstream easy to play easy to win easy to cash in money game, no thinking just point and shoot, and no, they will never choose another theme, they will just keep going until we hit modern warfare 5000AD, and no they will not make it a tactical game since none of “targeted” audience wants to think with their own heads

AND PEOPLE BEING FASTER THAN ME IN POSTING FUCK

Immediately uninterested

Thanks for the heads up

I think Modern Warfare is pretty good, actually. Mind you I don’t play the multiplayer like a lot of other people do, but I love the storyline. Who cares if its mainstream? People mostly hate mainstream because they think doing so makes them an individual free spirit, or crap like that. Same game over and over again, is it really? I don’t think it is, I think Black Mesa Source is the same game over again, because it actually IS, but if Modern Warfare 3 continues the storyline, then it ISN’T the same.

Same game over and over refers to the multiplayer… which you don’t know about because you don’t play it. It looks, feels, and plays the exact same as it did back with MW1. Call of Duty used to be about the SP, but they stopped focusing on that and are all about the MP now, and it still sucks. The levels get smaller, less creative and less tactical. The players of the games are oblivious to it. They just buy the game for its name pretty much.

Well, they aren’t making it just multiplayer, although I have to admit they are focusing on it more than they should, but it still doesn’t mean it’s the same.

Call of Duty created the norm for the generic ‘overrated, speedy, regenerative fps series where you can throw your grenade or take out your knife without equipping it and shit like tactical insertion and care packages are unsensible’ game.

I’ll just catch next week’s episode.

Oh wait, I think I said that once before

You’d be surprised how little I care about this. Unless it takes place somewhere interesting. Which it inevitably won’t.

Rapture was under the sea, there’s plenty of space games out there…

How about a game under the earth’s crust with volcanoes and shit?

No. It actually is the same thing over and over, just in a different setting. Tons of terrorists/Nazis run and shoot at you in seemingly endless numbers until you move past a trigger point in extremely linear levels. You shoot them with an impressive arsenal of military hardware. You seem to be confusing story with gameplay, sure the story is different but the core gameplay is unchanged. Story is always some convoluted plot about foiling terrorist plans yada yada you know the rest. Your statement about BM is also totally irrelevant, since the aim of BM is to recreate HL with newer technology, compared to a commercial product which should be changing things up every few sequels.
A sequel is normally about innovating and expanding on the previous titles, but all CoD manages to do in its subsequent sequels is give you more ways to kill enemies with shinier graphics in different locales. Big fucking whoop.

Indeed. Modern Warfare 2 should’ve been a DLC for MW. Or an expansion pack. But definitely not a sequel. All it did was to add a new story. Nothing else.
