Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Apparently Destructoid has gotten ahold of a leaked trailer. Admittedly, I haven’t been interested in a Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare 2. That being said, this one actually looks different for once.

Warning: Kevin Spacey may topple your governments.

Sounds like someone’s scrambling to “me too” Titanfall…

I want to point out I’ve only heard things about Crysis, but that sounds a lot like Crysis.

even if its joining the titanfall/crysis bandwagon, i gotta be real, that looked decent

but after mw3 and Ghosts (bo1 and bo2 were decent, but they didnt do enough to counter the coming stigma that CoD will forever be known for), as such this new one will NEVER get my full-price purchase, even if it does turn out to be great and do somthing new for the series for once

besides CoD’s marketing is some of the most misleading, everytime i see a trailer for a map, it is always presented to make you think it is more non-linear than it actually is (like that Freefall map, i thought it was going to be a significantly large playing field, turns out the actual map is no more large than Nuketown)

At least they seemed to have finally upgraded their engine to a reasonable level. I’m still super skeptical on the gameplay, but we’ll see how it goes. If they throw those exosuit things and their abilities into the multiplayer as equipment (not killstreaks) I’ll be interested.

But, Advanced Warfare? Really? Are they even trying? That’s a really stupid name.

From a pure graphical standpoint that seems to be the best looking CoD title…also Spacey!

Looks like they really want to make a movie.

They’re already doing it. Walk 5 meters, see the cutscene, press space, see the animation, sprint to the finish, stand there, see the scripted event…

In my opinion that’s really only a problem if the story and cutscenes you’re watching aren’t interesting.

Graphics look hype but it’s still going to be a soulless 4 hour long romp of explosions and expensive setpieces of famous buildings falling down to the ground.

The nanosuits mostly gave you armor, stealth, run speed, and a high jump that occasionally came in handy. This sounds much more like a parkour focused game, where Crysis 2 (although maybe not the first game) was more of a cover shooter.

I just want another Crysis like 1 and Warhead. Doubt this will be like that though.

Lookin real blomkamp right now. I like it.

One concern I’ve heard is that all this cool stuff will be mostly relegated to cutscenes, and the actual gameplay will just be the same old CoD gunplay. Given how Ghosts and the like played out, it’s a pretty valid thing to worry about.

thats what i said when i saw Ghost’s trailers

protip: “Sub D” is just their way of saying the game has shitty draw distances /blastprocessing

No, SubD is SubD.

Yeah, FFS, there’s bashing CoD for being terrible games design-wise but then there’s pulling bullshit out of your ass for not knowing what a certain feature of the game is. Lets try to be fair here.

Are you trying to tell me a record-setting AAA studio knows more about asset optimization than some guy on a mod forum?

In all seriousness I agree, though. Where the hell did you “shitty draw distances” from?

i hope the low-budget metal-pipe exoskeleton thing either goes away soon or develops some serious stylistic variety so i don’t have to hate it
