Budget laptop good choice ?

Greetings all,
I’m a fan of the old Half-Life game (1998) and I haven’t got the chance to play HL2 yet.
I’m looking to buy a budget laptop that I will be using for my work but I also want to play HL2, the two following episodes and maybe other HL2 based games like HL Source and CS/DoD and of course Black Mesa  .
Besides these games I don’t think I’m going to play any others.
Do you mind giving your opinion about the laptop I plan to buy ?
Here are the specs:
Asus X42JY-VX094D
Intel Pentium P6200 (2.13 Ghz, 3MB L3 cache)
HM55 Express Chipset
ATI Radeon Mobility HD 6470 1 GB VRAM
2 GB DDRIII RAM

Do you think I will be able to play HL2 and its mods with the highest graphics ?
I think the graphic card of this config is ok but my concern is about the processor though one would say it doesn’t really matter when it comes to play games ?!

Cheers!

HL2 isn’t really hard to run. I don’t know a whole lot about computer hardware, but just knowing that, I’m guessing all the HL2 games wil run pretty well on your computer. However, you really need to upgrade your ram. 2 gigs isn’t any good.

It will be able to run it at highest graphics. But it’s probaly gonna lag a bit. Consider keeping it at medium. It looks still good and it lags less.

That’s an odd laptop, really. The GPU in it is actually fairly recent and good, but the processor looks around 5 years old. Why they’d put a Pentium 4 2.13 ghz in a new laptop is beyond me.

Yeah, you could probably find a better laptop for the same price range. Speaking of which, what is your price range?

Consider a stationary CP instead of a laptop. They are cheaper and better. Or consider building the CP yourself.

Actually, I’d suggest going to 4chan for CP. Building CP yourself can be very dangerous and result in the FBI knocking on your door.

lolwut

CP stands for Control Panel, don’t listen to anyone who says otherwise.

WRONG

it’s a core i3/5/7 series rebranded for $$$

That thing should run Black Mesa full speed on high detail, same for Portal 2, etc.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
