Budddgggettt PC

Semi followup. I bought a $700 guitar (worth more to me than a computer) and now I’m on a tighter budget. I was looking through packages for the discounts, and this one seems alright. I will be using the CPU’s integrate graphics, (Clarkdale. Can it run CSS? :stuck_out_tongue: ) as I will be getting a GPU later.

This is also partly because of the whole time issue with the family computer. (That’s the one that has really decent specs. I just want a computer in my room with halfways decent specs.)

All help is greatly appreciated.

CPUs don’t have integrated graphic cards, motherboards do.

And I don’t think that mobo has one: “Onboard Video
Onboard Video Chipset - None”

It’s an i5 Clarkdale. It has integrated GPU capabilities. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with that, in addition to everything else.

you’re crazy if you’re planning to buy such good ram and processors and running on integrated chipsets, it’ll bottleneck your system to hell
the following is my current computer i just built a month back, took a while looking for good parts and it totals up at 577$, obviously that’s a little over but the GPU and operating system are the main costs (100$ windows 7, 120$ TOP4850)

FROM OLD COMP

577 dollars total

you could probably look around for cheaper memory or processors (buy amd, it’s MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper for budget cpus and run just as well if not better in mid-high tier gaming)

an AX5550 could probably fare you quite well for CSS and general source engine games but obviously it’s a mid-tier budget card so you’ll eventually have to put some money out on a newer card

the specs i’ve given you run BC2 at 1080p high settings perfectly fine at around 40 FPS, but don’t expect to run anything too great if you cut it down.

I’m kind of meh about AMD stuff, but really there’s no reason as to why I’m like that. I have until late September to decide, as when that’s when I’ll get payed. If I :pirate: Windows 7 I might be able to get a slightly better GPU. I’ll see what I can swap in/out, and report back when I’ve got more questions. :F

since i’m a gullible idiot who can’t tell left from right i had just assumed that you were going to use the computer for work and mid-end gaming (css you know), intel DOES lead the CPU market, but AMD mid-range CPUs are as i stated before much cheaper and perform just as well as their intel counterparts (https://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html,) intel tends to roll a pair of dice to price their processors and as a result prices can range between 300-800 for a pair of processors that score nearly equally on a benchmark (see xeon x5560, x3450.)

eh?

Clearly, no one who has posted has read about the Clarkdales. In order for the GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) part of the CPU to work, you need an H55 chipset in your motherboard. That combo you have selected has one, so you’d be all set. As far as performance, benchmarks show that it is capable of running Modern Warfare and Far Cry 2, so it should be able to run CSS with reasonably high settings. Don’t quote me on this, I suggest you do some reading of your own to confirm this. These silly people who say CPU’s don’t do graphics don’t know what they’re talking 'bout.

Obviously, you’ll need to choose an i3 or i5 Clarkdale chip to purchase along side this combo. However, if you are planning on buying a GPU later, I would say this is a poor choice. I would save up and buy a GPU outright, with a different chipset. I’d recommend an i5 750 with a mobo with a p55 chipset, it’s what I made my budget rig on. If you’re planning on doing casual gaming, I would leave the Clarkdale and H55 and not bother buying a GPU later on.

Also, we can’t see your wishlist without logging in, silly. Take a screenie instead.

Come out at $602. Suggestions?

That’s more like it, as far as an upgradeable gaming PC goes. Don’t know much about the performance of a 4890 and the Phenom II X4’s, but that’ll definitely be better than the Clarkdale. I also can’t say much about the prices since I only know what stuff costs at my PC shop :stuck_out_tongue:

4890’s is still a solid card. I have a similar system (except cpu is c2q q9650 @3ghz) it runs most games i throw at it at full settings with the exception of farcry 2 which i have to drop a few settings off very high, which leaves me with roughly 60fps with very little graphical difference. O yeah source is more cpu orientated than gpu. I had a athlon x2 2.5ghz and i was getting 150fps. I swapped mobo to an lga775 and then slapped a q9650 in it and suddenly i was getting 300fps on a intensive map (fps_max @ 300). With a less cluttered map, i got about 600fps

What’s wrong with your current computer? Is it really ancient enough to justify buying a new (laughably slow) computer when you’re already really tight on money?

His current computer belongs to the whole family and he can only use it for a few hours per day.

He wants to buy a computer just for himself.

HE SHOULD GET A JOB FIRST, THE PUNK KID.

I have a job.

EDIT: lol @ “Laughably slow.”

Your own ignorance aside, if you think THAT is laughably slow, the family computer has an Nvidia 9800 GTX+ and AMD Athlon 4400+…

Who do you do?

who say do you what

Yep, you probably mown lawns.

Hey, it pays.

Pentium D 915 and radeon 4670 ftw

Pentium 4 631 and geforce 7800GT ha!
