Broken Sequences in HL2

I own Half Life 2, from The Orange Box. The game runs good except for one thing. Some events, like the vortigaunt putting the gun on the airboat or the Panels rising from the teleporter at the end do not happen. What can I do to fix this?

Try running a defrag on the GCFs with
Half-life 2> Properties> Local game files> Defragment Game Cache files in your steam “games” tab.
Failing that, reinstall.
