British and American T.V.

british shows I watch are:

Summer wine, Keeping up appearences, Life on mars and even Robin hood.

oh and of course the good OLD Mr. bean.

Love animated Mr Bean as well.

Don’t you mean the yellow ear?

C what I did there.

-_-

I haven’t watched any new Simpsons episodes for years, but I think it’s going the same way with Family Guy. It used to be funny and it also had a story in it, nowadays it’s just so in your face. The early seasons hinted at Stewie being gay and Meg being unpopular, but now every episode has Stewie cross dressing and Meg being beaten up by everyone in Quahog :meh:

At least American Dad hasn’t succumbed to this yet.

RED DWARF[/SIZE] one of the best english tv serials i ever seen.

The Simpsons creators should just call it a day and make some more great Futurama episodes

Also, The Fast Show, Big Train and The League of Gentlemen

y’all are missing the two best sitcoms/comedys ever made, and this is a fact, Dads Army and Fawlty Towers, the latter more so, if you want a lesson in writing genius comedic setup watch fawlty

but yeah i also agree each country has its own tastes, im pretty sure america wouldnt get the royale family (Not that one, the TV show). As for the Office what made the british version so great was it was so perfectly done as a fly on the wall some people actually thought it was a documentary, and ricky gervais’s occasional outrageous racist or sexist jokes followed by the long strecthed out awakardness of the situation was comedy perfection and excution, i think the usa office failed to hit this mark (This of course being personal oppionon). And as the simpsons, family guy, comments prove, we in england know when to end a show, and thats when the story dictates it to be, at its peak and with a bang, not when the viewing figures drop drasticly

You Rang M’Lord?

This is true, We’ve not delved into the shows of the past, faulty towers, monty pythons flying circus, some mothers do have’m, Father Ted, etc…

The list goes on, I can’t name nearly US equivalents, if someone want’s to step in and do that…

Well my 2 favorite movies are Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz is that means anything.

Father Ted, Black Books and The IT Crowd

To be fair, Monty Python’s Flying Circus was pure shit after season 2. Season 3 had 1, maybe 2 good sketches. Season 4 was beyond tears. The first 2 seasons are brilliant, though.

Blackadder 2-3-4 are also brilliant (with 4 being amazing). I like Atkinson a lot better when he isn’t the Bean-ish type (like Bean and the first season of Blackadder).

This. Or these :3

Fawlty Towers didn’t wither away like most American shows, it only made 12 episodes, each was pure gold.

Keeping Up Appearences is brilliant as well.

Also, Vicar of Dibley. I enjoy that.

oh gon, Blackadder the third is the best one, imho
.

But Blackadder goes forth has Baldrick’s awesome poetry.

“I want to make you happy, Darling…”

“I have made a broach of purest green”

Good old Tim McInnerny
