The hell? I don’t notice any major drop in gameplay until 400 where it starts to get choppy. 500 and frames are noticeably lacking. Any higher and I begin teleporting backwards as I run forwards.
Like I saud… EU and US people are usually much more sensitive to lag, forcing us to play on overseas servers, therefore we can live with lag moreso than them.
You must really play slow games, I don’t know if something is wrong with me but I can clearly see the difference between 50 and 100 ping. More than 100 I consider lag.
It’s not speed that’s affected, it’s timing, and it becomes increasingly delayed with high ping.
The difference between 100 and 300+ is noticable, the difference between 50 and 100 is not noticable.
I feel the same way.
What the hell is with certain Europeans/Americans complaining about 300+ pings?
Anyway, I think we should find someone that could host a match of the higher voted games. Cameron seems a logical choice to me, but for some people the ping might be 500+ :fffuuu:
Get sersoft to set his Linux thing up as dedicated?
I could set my Windows thing up as dedicated except it’s in Australia.
(It’s only Windows because I frequently host Gmod servers)
Oh hey, someone mentioned some offer of HL2 M for free so I did some checking and found this:
https://steampowered.com/ati_offer1a/
Not sure if it’s still valid since it doesn’t come up in any searches through the Steam store… someone wanna try it out and see if it’s valid?
EDIT: about ping… I’m not too impressed with my ISP, but none the less, it seems the only servers that show over 300 are in Russia, Thailand and Arab Emirates. The ones I’ve seen that actually advertise being in Australia seem to ping <250 for me.
my vote goes for cs 1.6,cs:cz or hl2:dm
or any goldsrc or source mod
have you guys thought about using hamachi?as it’s p2p i guess cameron can host and only he will lag(not sure, correct me if i’m wrong)
Hamachi is worse for ping… It routes all connections through their main servers (Whereever they are located)
The only reason to use Hamachi is if we all wanted to play a pirated game on LAN mode.
So has this thing fallen through??? I’d offer to set up a dedicated server on one of my computers but my internet is slow and I’m on the west coast of America.
Yeah, id like to attend atleast one of these BM Game Nights, never had the chance.
You do know we’ve never really had one?
(not since we left GN anyway)
Here is the link for HL2: DM free for nivida https://www.steampowered.com/nvidia/ on the topic of ping, it really depends on the game where i can stand high ping. But i can notice the diffrence between 50 to 100, 100 to 150 and so on.
Well it’s easy to notice a difference, whether it’s playable or not is another matter.
HL2CTF would be fun…
Yes we did, TF2, at the end of 2009.
