Well let me reply away:
Half-Life was a stunning game to play because its atmosphere and storyline were gripping.
Opposing Force was close, the story of Shepard diddn’t begin until after the cascade had occured.
In both, you play as someone who is rather ‘fit’ for such a situation.
-Gordon has his badass HEV suit
-Shepard has a military-grade HECU suit.
However, Barney Calhoun is just a Security Officer.
His story begins at the same time as Gordon’s.
Barney’s point of view seems closer to just a regular ‘bystander’ caught up in the comotion as you watch the effects of the Ressonance Cascade unfold before.
-Barney only has a Black Mesa Security Officer Official Uniform on him, which at most gives him some kevlar.
-Barney, unlike Gordon or Shepard, isn’t fixed on finding the source of the catastophe and sealing up the rifts, he just wants to get the fuck out, and gets help from scientists along the way.
Half-Life: Blue Shift reminds me a lot about Half-Life 2: Episode 1, which is my favorite episode. Both are quick, action-packed, and are full of new and dynamic atmosphere.
I like the feeling of crysis as you try to escape a horrid scenario that continues to deteriorate around you, which is why I am anticipating the remake of Guard Duty the most.
Those are my two cents.
I loved Blue shift. I hated EP1 though.
Thank you for that response, so if I understand you fully you like the scenario the best because it is somewhat believable for a regular by-standard.
I do understand, please continues what you are doing.
Continue liking it?
Yes, it is always nice to have some liking some game no matter how good is it or how bad is it.
I don’t expect to see Guard duty for at least another two or three years.
I kind of feel the same way about Black Mesa.
Blue Shift wasn’t nearly as long as Half-Life, so hopefully the mod shouldn’t take as long to finish.
I liked Blue Shift.
Partially, because you were just an ordinary Security Officer.
Then all the sudden, hell break loose and your only armed with an Berreta M92 and a crowbar. You have to save the scientists… and it’s just an awesome game.
I love all the Half-Life games. Pretty much… VALVE games are awesome.

If your recall the introductory text, First priority is to protect the facility and equipment, then the personnel, then finally yourself. Get your priorities straight man! >
My only complaint with Blue Shift was that it was as expensive as Opposing Force and did not include any the new things introduced in Opposing Force. It really felt like a better-than-average mod of HL1 than a real expansion of the official story-line. Obviously, it sets up Barney Calhoun’s return in HL2, but I think it was not as much as it should have been.
Dumbass, because it is source engine?
That doesn’t actually look half bad. Nice environment work and prop work. Great security guard concept, quite a lot better the Black Mesa’s security guard design. :/.
Yeah same opinion, the guard concept is a lot better.
Well guys, we will do our best to for Blue shift source (Guard Duty).
Ow and did you know? One of the extras is uplink, we will remake this small game so Blue shift will be a bit longer.
Opposing Force remake
there is the address for a new remake,
https://www.obmsource.com/files.html
if i was a booky i would give 100 to 1 that Black mesa would be released
in the next 12 months, i would give 1 to 1 odds that the other remakes
even they started later will be out before black mesa
- It’s not a new remake, it’s an old one. There’s no “new” remake.
- You linked to files.
- It’s spelled bookie.
- This thread is for Blue Shift remake, not OBM.
