Blue Shift and Opposing Force Steam Update!

I guess Opposing Force and Blue Shift were given the Steam Pipe treatment, because when I went to run Blue Shift, I got the “Content needs to be updated!” message like Half-Life 2 and the episodes. When I ran Blue Shift, however, I was surprised to hear that the original soundtracks are back and they played in the game now. I tried Opposing Force, and it also updated, and the songs are back there as well!

Also, the Blue Shift hud is now blue… I don’t THINK it was before (I could be mistaken).

So, sorry if this is old news, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone bring this up…

PS: It’s also cool that Half-Life was updated, and now the songs play through level transitions… Now only if they could do that to Half-Life 2

I thought I would bump this thread a little for some action the HL sub forum. Also, I just played through the Original HL series under OSX. Thanks valve!

The BS HUD was not, in fact, previously blue. Awesome that they fixed the music, too.

Actually the hud was blue from the beginning.

But not in the Steam version, that’s what they mean.

Yeah, the Steam versions of the HL games have always been a little buggy. I wonder, did they fix the thing where you push a box and it goes rocketing off?

awesome I might reinstall the steam version again

Last time I played it sure didn’t seem like it.

…If they do that, and let songs play through transitions for BS and Op4, they’ll be back to their full glory!

BS is running as it supposed to be, but OP4’ music is still not fixed for real. Tracks are not in the original order.

The blue HUD in Blue Shift never existed in the Steam version, although was in a non-Steam version.

The music did seem unfitting in most of the situations…

Well, it does now!

Speaking of Blue Shift… I wonder how Skyms is doing… :expressionless:

Actually, Op4 had its own specially-composed soundtrack. Somebody has ripped the songs off the cd, and put them on the internet, all renamed so that Op4 on steam will play them at the correct times.

Op4 and BS use the same soundtrack
I know because they have the same songs on the discs

Right, Chris Jensen composed the soundtrack for Gearbox when they were making Op4, and then they used it again for BS.

I think he was saying that they just play out of order, since that’s literally what he said.

And I was disagreeing: Steam versions of Opposing Force and Blue Shift (for whatever reason) use the wrong sound track, the regular Half-Life soundtrack, inserted into the same places where the Op4 soundtrack, which is made up of entirely different songs, was intended to go.

I think he’s saying that it was changed, just now, to the original soundtrack, but the new songs play out of order.

Ohh, if that’s what he was saying, then I take back my last comment. I haven’t checked what the songs are since the update.
