Black textures

Ok, quite recently I’ve been having a problem in the SDK hammer editor, where textures appear as black in game. When I set mat_fullbright to 1 they reappear. Also, when I apply a cubemap to the same room, it reflects the pink and black checkered no-texture thing.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you got a light source in the room?

Type buildcubemaps in console, then restart the game and your cubemap will work.

I recommend fixing the textures before building cubemaps, or the cubemap will contain black textures.

Yeh, four of them. I didn’t have this problem until I switched to a certain texture, then every texture after was black. The light source lights the floor ceiling, but not the wall.

Are the textures on the wall textures intended for props? In which case they won’t work.

Some textures are ‘model textures’ and they show up wrong compared to the others. I cannot remember how you can tell between them though.

Didn’t want to create a new thread for a similar problem, but I will if no-one responds to this.

Now I have been having some trouble with func_door textures being black and odd. I created two func_doors beside eathother for a lift, but strangly the side faces to the rectangles have been completely black, and none of the faces have bullet holes after being shot. Can any one explain this or is more info required?
