Black Mesa is definitely going to look graphically better than Half Life 1. It’s also safe to say that the gameplay is going to be better aswell after seeing all the improvements that have been implemented.
NO WAI!
what are you smoking? Doom 3 wasn’t scary
It wasn’t scary in the sense that it gave you bad dreams, it was more scary in the completely fucking annoying sense.
Eternal Darkness. Now that game played with my head…
…not that I’m suggesting Black Mesa should have in game effects representing Gordon’s steadily rising insanity, or elder gods…
It was kind of scary, just play it in the dark with the volume on high and a sub-woofer. It makes the headcrabs and the Xen creepy.
And then go to that room in OAR, where it plays the zombie screaming :fffuuu:
I remember being scared when i first played HL1… maybe it was just the zombie having a seizure in front of a computer…
Yeah that scene will be pretty epic in BM, I’m sure.
Or playing it when you were 10-11 in the dark, with the volume high…and being paranoid as fuck…
The only scary parts in HL1 were the parts where a headcrab managed to jump at me and startle me. Usually when I’m startled like that I tend to wildly shoot all around me, so it makes for some fun times
A scary game with mechanics that would work well in the Half-Life1 setting would be “The Thing - The Game”, people who watched The Thing or played this game would know that it has creatures similar to headcrabs in size and looks, when they pop around the corner it’s in groups and the music becomes tense and the cross-hair darkens to a red, they are easy to kill but they really scare me due to the way the encounters are set out.

^_^:retard:
:jizz:
Won’t be scary for me, maybe some startling moments as stated numerous times.
Play Doom 3 on a 52 Inch Plasma, with THX 5.1 Surround, in a pitch black room, and then talk to me about scary.
cool story bro
Yeah but those are cheap scares :meh:
It’s the fog that gets ya. Not being able to see what’s attacking you can be very scary.
I get scared by those fish. i don’t remember their names though.
they surface, to slip bellow the dark water. they then pop up to show you they are in a new place.
You don’t know where they are now. you HAVE to go into the water to proceed with the game…
GOD i hate that

Those damn Ichthyosaurs have given many of us aquaphobia in Half-Life.
