Yeah but you don’t have a gun yet when you meet your first zombie.
fixed
I am still terrified of poison headcrabs. And of the speedy headhumpers. And of the faster zombies. Their howling makes my skin crawl.
Hey, your last name doesn’t happen to be Fong by chance?
OT (sort of…): I don’t think that headcrabs are all that scary as much as startling anymore, tbh.
Yeah, the fast zombies, poison zombies, and headcrabs coming from nowhere.
My friend let me mess around in Gmod9, and I decided to spawn one. I wasn’t prepared for the monster I was about to meet.
Oh, that explains it.
First time I saw a headcrab I wasn’t sure what to do about it. It kept walking at me and it didn’t seem too aggressive. Still I didn’t wanted it too close to me so I kinda was walking away as it walked closer.I didn’t have a weapon yet so I thought I had done something wrong, that I had missed something before. Then it jumped at me and I don’t really remember well but I think I freaked.
EDIT- yeah I freaked. It’s memorable because I was at an internet cafe.
the first time playing ravenholm was the scariest vidgame moment of my life to date. however, after the 9006th playthrough I know every nook of every cranny without even having a computer on.
All I have memorised in ravenholm is the locations of the 3 toxic headcrab zombies, yet I still managed to let them trap me just the other day.
I have just played through the HL2 Mod “Dangerous World”, and it is ten times as scary as Ravenholm.
In this mod, you play a rebel named Frank, who lives on the outskirts of City 17 and owns an old, war-torn HEV suit in his cellar. He wakes up one late afternoon upon hearing the thunder from the cracking citadel reactor echo throughout the whole city, and his old black and white tv goes on showing Dr. Kleiner’s evacuation speech. He has to get to a train station as quickly as possible.
Unlike in the normal Half-Life games, carefully engineered horror moments have been implemented into the gameplay of this mod, managing to get you (at least me) completely freaked out and shaking from shock.
^ There were some very freaky moments in that, to be sure. I can’t remember my first playthrough of Ravenholm well enough to know which was scarier for me, however.
I’ve got a love/hate relationship with Ravenholm. I love it because it’s at night and there are only zombies and headcrabs to fight, the closest thing to a RE level in HL2
But I’m always happy to be in the mines where you see the light at the end of the tunnel.
That light makes me happy.
The headcrap at the exit does not.
Bah, it’s not that bad, I’ve never had it jump at me the moment I emerged from the tunnel. I always got out, walked away to the tracks and shot it with my .357
Ha ha, yeah, I was all like, “Woo hoo I’m out!” and then, “OH SHIT.”
It never actually attacked me, I got out of the tunnel and walked towards the tracks, and I heard a chirping noise coming from behind me. Unless I actually walked straight at it it just stayed there for me to shoot it
headcrabs are only scary when they come out of no were. which they do a lot.for some reason after reading this topic i want to go and play they hunger again.
Umm…whoa whoa whoa people in this thread, people have been talking about how HL IS NOT a scary game, well that is partly true as it is supposed to be A HORROR GAME, but it is suppose to scare you, the targeted audience was teenage homophobic boys.
You’re forgetting the fact that it’s not.
