Black Mesa vs. Aperture Science

Balck Meas.

I can see me and Barney being buddies IRL. You know (ex) security guards and all. Plus I get to shoot.

Oh ya I forgot that Black Mesa has real people that you can talk to.

Aperture Science you have… oh ya a computer that is nuts.

and he’ll own ya a beer too.

Don’t forget crawling in air vents into Kleiners office.

That’s not really a fair comparison as that’s post-disaster Aperture. The Black Mesa equivalent of that is either infested with aliens or most likely nuked.

But Aperture created GlaDOS for reducing the number of personnel dramatically.

Black Mesa! Because it is a more interesting facility, while in Aperture every room looks the same and that’s boring as hell.

Except, you know, Gman.

The people at Black Mesa are pretty damn rude if you’re late for work, so I prefer Aperture.

Still better than a computer that watches you fapping.

To hell with them both ! i’ll go for Tri-optimum

Well even before glados got a bug I think she still was kind of a bitch. Maybe she killed em all because they were worse pricks than the scientists at BM. Just some speculation.

I prfer Picasa

Any resemblance is clearly coincidental.

Just kidding. I’d say Black Mesa because of how big the place is. Yeah if I work there I might not be able to go everywhere (Who ever will go everywhere in black mesa?) but it’s still be fun having your ow dorm and giant restaraunt things that tend to lack handrails where you can eat, chill out, play Codename Gordon on the arcade machines and watch trams pass by. Another thing is lets say the RC and what-not DOES happen, we still made it longer than AS, because (from what I remember from someone at Valve Software said) Portal takes place a few days BEFORE the RC, so in a way Black Mesa won in terms of how long they could keep their workers alive.

Pro’s: Big ass work area, live linger than at Aperture, even the scientists get to be trained in shooting firearms, and be taught how to break a box into four pieces with about 5 hits with a crowbar. Vending Machines, arcade machines, you get paid to stand lookingt at a panel all day or just walk around the facility and get back to your dorm.
You get to see giant rockets and helicopters.

Con’s: Roaches, Roches are sometimes in the snack machines, the place only has handrails when not needed, some fatass keeps eating all the donuts, you have to wear a uniform with Blue/red striped ties. If you’re a guard, you are treated like maintnance even though the actual maintnance is right outside the door.

How would you rather die?

From an alien/military invasion + nuke or from deadly neurotoxins?

But not everyone from Black Mesa died. Portal, however, makes me think that no one got out alive, but I cant be sure.

Black Mesa is the ultimate facility. Crypt19 you hit the nail right on the head.

I think I’d rather be shot in the head by the military or have my heart ripped outta my stomach by a zombie. Much faster, quicker, and would look cooler to any bystanders that actually had the balls to sit and watch. Neurotoxins’d take too long and be painful and annoying…

Yeah, the people at Black Mesa had at least a very slim chance of survival, no matter how odd it is that they got passed the military, and away from the radius of the nuke.

Aperture Science however, didn’t give any chance at survival unless GLaDOS decided did some weird Stasis style thing to keep a few hand picked people alive, only to toy with them until it’s bored and decides to try and kill them.

[COLOR=‘Pink’]I’m with you Scrawny, I agree Crypt19 got it right.

Actually, I belive portal happened after the RC, especially since GLaDOS says “The world has changed since the last time you were out there. Its much safer in here.” or something to the effect.

^This. I’ve never seen anywhere that it happened before the RC.

The lack of bodies scattered around ApSci suggests to me that people were able to escape, or at least someone came back to clean up a bit. Maybe the deadly neurotoxins were just there to scare everyone away.

Gasp, maybe they are all on the Borealis having a party.

I couldn’t find the original source I was talking about but I found this on the Combine overwiki thing:

I always thought that line from GLaDOS was just there and another meaningless thing. This probably means that the Aperture Science events happened before the RC, but Portal takes place After the RC. All I know about it for sure is that this supposedly happened sometime before the RC as it says “Several Days before May 16”, and May 16 (Retconned from March 16) is when the RC happens.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
