Well. It’s the first idea I’ve heard of that made me want to go outside and stab a dog.
:what:
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
would rather hear it from the devs if they don’t want me to do it. can’t trust you someone as crazy as you XD.
sounds great! a mod of a mod of a sequel of a game!:awesome:
That actually sounds… fucking brilliant.
^ I actually got a little bit of a plot going for it in my head, no ending to it yet. But as I said I have no modding skills whatsoever, I probably could learn some but I am about to start college for engineering and I am not a math person so I will probably be studying hard to keep up and wont have time for much else. Even so the Dev’s don’t want us using their stuff and I am more than willing to respect their wishes. So if I ever want to make it I’d have to make it from scratch.
Anyway, it would start with you on a tram ride going in to Black Mesa. I was thinking about having like an Aperture Science guy explaining what you need to do to get around, dropping hints and such via earpiece or text through like a Blackberry or something. He would guide you through the first part of it up to the Resonance Cascade, it would be something like a tutorial showing you all the basics that you would need to know to survive the game, and then he would abandon you once the poop hits the paddles so the player would pretty much be on his own.
To get in the facility a scientist’s profile has already been added to your disguise kit. This particular scientist is home sick thanks to a massive dose of a laxative that was added to his coffee grounds. Your first objective will read something like this: “We have received word that the scientist sent out an email to let his colleagues know he wouldn’t be in today. Prevent the Anomalous materials team from reading that email! Use your sapper to fry their computers." (“Hey Mr. Freeman, I had messages for you but we had a system crash, I don’t know about 20 minutes ago and I am still trying to find my files…”)
Once you get in you can find a computer that you can plug into and download all the Anomalous materials employee profiles into your disguise kit, allowing you to transform into anyone of them without having to see them first. Their personnel profiles contain clues and information about each one of them and their security clearance as well. Your disguise kit has been upgraded to allow you to fake retinal scans so you can gain access to different sections of the facility. As the game progresses you will pretty well need to find and replace certain scientists, track down their corpses, or if they have been disfigured or are not accessible download their personnel files to be able to disguise yourself as them to fake the retinal scanners all over the facility.
i like the idea of being able to play as an alien. i always wanted to eat people
It’s like a mix of IMF, hitman and HL…
Excellent idea Sitten_duck ! The best thing I heard from a while now.
That could be a briliant mod, original and fun.
Too bad I don’t have any modding skill either to support you…
And god knows…well actually everybody knows, not just god, that we’ve seen some pretty shitty ideas getting life in here.
Deployable scientists anyone?
can a dev answear my last question?
well, Raminator.
Thank god we have different opinions.
i thought it was a pretty good idea, both story and gameplaywise.
It wasn’t meant to be a serious plot or even be taken seriously. Though I highly doubt that changes your perception of it. I just thought that the spy from TF2 had some interesting gameplay mechanics and I was curious about what one could do with the spy in different games. I just contrived the Aperture Science thing to add a story to the idea. Oh well it was just an idea…
You’re in the wrong thread for that. But I can tell you with 100% certainty that the dev stance has been the same for years, and that is that they don’t want any of their work used outside the BM mod itself, and that includes Gary’s mod.
we’ll just have to make our own game then ^^
i propose we use DS game maker!
jeah iv’e gotten that throigh the times but the devs kind of answears loosely on these questions somewhere saying that they don’t wan’t it no matter what and somewhere saying that they don’t wan’t it anywhere if it isn’t gived credit to them
I don’t know how many different ways I can find to tell you this, but that second part simply isn’t true - they do not give any permission to use any of their work in other mods, for any reason.
bummer…those models are good but oh well.
By the way, Obsidian conflict beats Synergy anytime
you know, i have understood that aleready. what i was saying is that the devs have a tendency to say the opposite thing of what they wan’t
as an example,
for some ppl, that’s the same as saying that they don’t have much against ppl using their work and giving almost al cred to them in gmod screens and such
LISTEN TO RAW_BEAN he is telling you no while some people aren’t going to obey this requests the devs don’t want their worked used anywhere but the mod so the even with credit the dev’s have said
NO!!!
Don’t argue, it’s useless. He don’t understand the word NO.
Plus I’m sure he’ll be one of them who will steal the devs work for his shity gmod amusement…
