Black Mesa is released!

Just out-fucking-standing work you all. really awesome job. Well worth the wait. You Devs deserve a big party.

Thanks to BM team for making the dream come true. I’ve been waiting since 2008-2009 for this to happen. Have been lurking and visiting main page from time to time. And suddenly saw Gamasutra news that Black Mesa has been approved on Steam Greenlight. After that I was closely following the countdown.

Being a game developer myself, I can hardly keep my joy of your success inside, it’s simply blowing my mind. The site being down was true success and true display of how many people love your work.

Thanks a lot for what you’ve done for us, for yourself, and for the whole world.

PS1:
Is there a way to donate money to you? I would really love to do it!

PS2:
Also, I have a question since I’m making a game myself (GPL). What is the license of Black Mesa resources? Can they be used freely elsewhere?

looks like you can pass entire game with strong bodyguard team lol

I’ve gotta try that…

I just finished the game… and jesus that game was fucking hard.

It was fantastic, but hard.

Well… Sounds fun!

So far, the mod is great! I’m both happy that it’s finally out, and also just a bit sad, because those times of waiting for the mod to come are now gone, so it seems nostalgic. Still though, the work you put into it shows.

Exactly my thoughts. But the waiting is not completely over yet, a few fixes and the release of the Xen chapters are still ahead of us.

Thank you dev team for all the hard work you did! Black Mesa did worth the wait!

Sup guys, I really only found out about the project about a month ago, and almost pee’d my pants when I did. After hours of my slow computer and Internet, I finally got the chance to play for a few hours today. So far:

This is the release Valve SHOULD have done with HL:HD, but I am actually happy they DIDN’T. This gave you guys the opportunity to do it, AND MAN DID YOU GUYS DELIVER. Just even going through Black Mesa Inbound on the tram system, my mind was blown! You guys have done a stellar job! Even going so far as making sure I slide an extra step or two when I’m on a frozen surface, damn well impressive.

You guys have one helluva project added to your work portfolios. Can’t wait for the rest of the chapters!

TL  R I’m happy, we’re happy, cookies for everyone!

I know. Can’t wait for Xen!
On the topic of the days before release, the nostalgia of those days actually pretty insignificant now that another thing has just come to my attention. :frowning:

Devs…

.

I LOVE YOU!

All these Cockroaches, crawling out of the woodwork…

Haha oh god, that made me laugh…

You’ve been registered for a whole month yourself? Whoa man

I’d think the devs are quite happy to see us register just for sake sake of giving them the feedback they deserve =)

I just finished Black Mesa. I’m very satisfied. Its probably more enjoyable than the original HL or HLS (trust me I’ve played both hundreds of times). I absolutely LOVED it. Xen is going to be worth the wait. By the way, I’ve been waiting since 2009 for this. Thanks guys.

It was a pretty crass joke… If I do say so myself.

Have played quite a bit, have reached the three huge plants and I must say this is awesome, even better than I thought it would be!

epic, once again, get to go play an old scool game, with new scool stuffs ! w00t

The game is so awesome. Besides the graphics, the atmosphere with the music and lighting makes such an great impression that it baffles me. Outstanding job devteam!

Must… Resist… RUSHING!

I’m at the part after the awesome vista on Surface Tension, and I’m worried I’m playing it too quick. I’ve decide to try to save the rest for tomorrow, don’t want it over so quick. :’(

Thanks you so much dev team! You’ve done a fantastic job, and I’m almost glad to still have something to wait for from you guys!

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
