Black Mesa is released!

oh boy oh boy!

I just registered to say that this mod is awesome! I remember hearing of this mod years ago, glad to see it finally came out!

I’m only in Unforeseen Consequences right now and I love the attention to detail that was put in - I was glad to see that things like the emergency alarm at Barney’s desk and the microwave weren’t left out.

The only annoying thing is that I haven’t found the crowbar yet - are we seriously supposed to kill the first several zombies without it? Using the environment to kill the zombies gets old really fast.

Great job to the team, it’s obvious a ton of effort went into the mod. It’s been ages since I played HL1 (which I think I played over 15 times) and this is like a breath of fresh air. The intro tram ride blew me away again for the second 1st time!

You should find the crowbar pretty soon.
Keep an eye open

Black Mesa FTW!

Oh, boy! STUFF!

Just finished my playthrough to the end of Lambda Core and teleported my way to the credits.

Wow.

You and the team have done a fantastic job recreating the world that introduced so many of us to the Half-Life universe.

I was a little concerned at first when I read some items had been modified (training left out, levels expanded, etc), but this is as true to the spirit of the original as it comes. Artistic license or not, this is the game that SHOULD have been Half-Life: Source.

From the bang-on voice-overs to the Half-Life inspired soundtrack from Joel Nielsen to the level expansions that fit in with what we all wanted more of, well, it just rocks.

I look forward to Xen and completing the game. I am also curious about what treatments will be given to G-Man and his broken speech. Given what I played so far, I am confident I will be grinning when get to make my Hobson’s choice in a tram displaced in space and time.

P.S. Maybe Gabe should hire you guys to work on HL2E3/HL3… We’d at least have status updates and some progress.

Strangely enough, I encountered the same emotions of being with friends you haven’t seen in forever, going back to where you grew up. I know there are portions of the game that are different, but, as you say, it’s still “Billy.”

I’m in 100% agreement with you and think that a truly GOOD game SHOULD evoke those kinds of emotions. As so many people have already done on this thread, silly, mad props to the devs, as they’re deserving of all the kudos they get.

You people… You’ve made my day.

We have to remember that Half-Life did not have certain ability’s one comes to mind is sprinting which was in Half-Life 2 not Half-Life 1 or Source for that matter although jumping in Half-Life Source was rather easy I think they just got the jumping kind of wrong in Black Mesa but on the other hand it makes it that much more challenging.
I’ve played through it once so I am now messing around with the console commands and editing the skill.cfg file to give more default ammo and ammo pickup and also battery and health although I forgot to backup the file before editing it.

Hello everyone,

Last saturday, it was long time I hadn’t checked how was advanced the black mesa project.
I was very exciting as every gamer I guess.

SO I was going here without any expectations and then …

Oh my god it was released just on friday, download install and try this holy game immediately, my heart was beating fast.

A pure happiness for playing black mesa with a real source design.
You did an awesome task and the long wait was really awarding.
I love what you’ve done with level design, I mean we are in half life one, you have magistraly succeed in keeping those great moments in the original half life and enhance with your touch.

I say Alleluya [even if I’m not a believer].

Warm thank you black mesa team, a piece of art in our hands

I’ve been watching this game since at least 2006 - I can’t believe it’s finally here. Perhaps valve can be persuaded to host it on steam?

The mod already got greenlit on steam, it will be there soon

Completed it last night and I can only say that it was mind-blowing!

A huge thanks to the entire dev-team for recreating so brilliantly one of the best games of the last fifteen years - you’re a credit to hard work and endurance, all of you!

I shall be looking forward to Xen when it arrives, but for now I’m off to play through again so I can take in all the sights!

…We hope.

ETA? The devs ought to know

Just finished it. I love it. It’s everything I could ever have expected. More than worth the wait. The visuals, gameplay, music, sound effects, everything is amazing. I don’t see how even Valve could have done a better job. My sincere thanks for creating this awesome experience and providing me with hours of fun, excitement and nostalgia.

Way cool, man.

Five?.. Six?..

Shit, I’ve forgotten what playthrough I’m on…

That’s slightly embarrassing.

:fffuuu: Ssshhhh,

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
