Black Mesa is a lot less illuminated in the mod, wouldn't you agree?

The lighting is fine.

So I guess I learned something today, too.

The appeal and unease of HL for me was the accuracy of it’s portrayal. I’m not so fussed about the lighting in the ‘behind the scenes’ areas of Black Mesa, like the Blast Pit, that’s not really something I can identify with, but it is something I can believe in.

HL was a realistic interpretation of an unrealistic scenario.

no wonder its called black mesa source
still black mesa and Canada rules
so it sems the realety

Old joke is old.

Yeah it did. I used to make maps for hl1 long ago.

It still does.

Really? I thought the opposite. The Lambda lab was meant to feel clean and (at the beginning/onset,) unscathed. I thought the sign looked to beat up, and as someone said earlier, the aliens first priority probably wasn’t, “Let’s go piss in their coffee and break their light bulbs!”

Shame you want to give up game-making; you’re quite the pro :3

Indeed. someone needs to get him a limo and some groupies so that he doesn’t give up.

Smart… I didn’t know you could do that.

Yep, he’s a smart one alright. I would have longed to see some commercial games by Raminator but I suppose BM will suffice :stuck_out_tongue:

And psychopathy is good times.

OT: I’m pretty fond of the new, darker lighting in BM relative to the original HL. Everything always felt too uniformly well-lit, particularly when looking at old screenshots now:

There’s just no variety. And yes, in the end, it’s going to be quite a bit darker on average – that’s the price you pay for richer shadows and contrast.

I’ve got 3 hot cousins to donate. :bulb:

You must be very modest to not assume I was just being honest :3

I’d say that it’s much better being darker than having bloom, bloom, MOAR BLOOM PLZ like most games seem to do these days. I’m convinced that the logic is just to blind the player so that they aren’t capable of seeing how bad the map really is. The lighting in Black Mesa on the other hand is very fitting. The original Half-Life had very flat, boring lighting.

I agree. Somewhere between Doom 3 and ULTRA BLOOM TIME would be nice

What are you, the family pimp?

Why yes, yes he is. He gave me his sister.

Setbloomscale 9001.

:jizz:

No, that would be the internal structures of unreal tournament 3.

Lighting like the BlackMesa:East level and Episode2 when on the surface.
