Hello
Times I wanted to ask whether the mod in several languages will be translated. By this I mean not only by subtitles, but also the sound?
There is a lot of discussion about subtitle translation in this thread: https://www.blackmesasource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70
Voice translation has been mentioned in that thread too, but it would be difficult to do this before Black Mesa is released. This is because some of the voice lines may be changed from the original.
There is a separate forum which has been set up for discussing Black Mesa translations by community members, you might want to join there to find out more. The link is in the thread above.
Original version is always the best.
Indeed!
But it is also nice to hear it in your own language, if you don’t understand everything in English.
Yey… when I play HL2 in german I have to vomit…
Actually when I played Half-Life 2 in German (only German voices, no censoring) I thought it was rather interesting. Alyx sounded like she was 50 but a few of the voices were awesome (such as Breen, he had a rather interesting actor).
Yesterday I played Half-Life in english for the first time. God those scientist’s voices are ridiculous. Do every scientist in the USAs get their balls chopped when they first enter a lab of something?
Fixed.
I think it’s the ties.
The english version of HL sounds WAAAY better to me.
I’ll be fine with English, I hate it when they redo the voices… Subtitles is nice but considering the quality of the sounds is high I don’t need those.
English ftw!
Depends on what you compare it. Have you ever heard the French dub? In it they really sound like fully grown balled adults. Not like a strange parody of nerds with lab coats.
link or it didn’t happen
Anyone knows where the sound files are located?
nah, somewhere in the ‘sound’ directory, IIRC.
Anyway, I remember playing the pirated russian version back in 1999. The thing I liked in pirates back in those days is that they actually gave a fuck and translated the whole thing properly.
The results were hillarious. I remember myself in BMRF lobby mashing ‘E’ in front of a Einstein-model scientist on my first playthrough, when at one point he answered (in russian) : Пошел в жопу Фримен! (Go screw yourself Freeman!)
Now I’m struggling to find this translation in the internetz.
That would be the general idea.
download GCFScape and open “half-life french.cfg” which is located in “C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps”.
If the scientists sounds “better”, that’s not the case of every character. Have you ever heard Gman’s french voice? That’s ridiculous. :retard:
The only difference is he doesn’t sound like if he can’t speak normally. Only Hgrunts sounds better in english IMO.

that would mean that G-man is really just a French guy, not sum alien trying to speak like normal humans.
No it wouldn’t. Just because he speaks normally doesn’t mean he’s not an alien. (is he really an alien? Maybe he’s just like Breen, but in better. Anyway lets’s not start G-Man discussion here, there are plenty of topics for this)
