Black Mesa Classic Weapons

The one in vanilla black mesa is totally fine. They arent under any obligation to replace everything. Its more work than you think.

Any chances for those new arms for vanilla weapons or the vanilla arms for Classic Weapons? Reason why is because: I will only use Classic Models for: Glock, 357 (probably), MP5, Shotgun, Crossbow, Gluon Gun (probably). The rest of the weapons… I just stick with vanilla models.

I think we should let these guys work and release the pack before even thinking about requesting things.

People are going to want to tailor mods to their own tastes pretty much no matter what. We’ve got no problem with that, but we realistically can’t please every single person.

We’re going to release with separated vpks for the three major components of the pack, and there will be some documentation regarding a not-as-of-yet-discussed feature, but aside from that people will mostly be on their own.

Looking at screenshots, are you planning to add some “wear” to weapons in release? Almost every weapon looks like brand new, also the upper part of HEV hand panel.
I am just curious if the weapons will be as close as possible to “shiny HL1 classic” or something balanced between HL1 and BMS.

Have you also tried how does the pack behave with “cl_mdldetailfx_enable 1” toggle for blood decals?

Hey Hey Hey! I actually love those nice and new feels. It looks sharp. Who knows tho, someone might make a worn and torn version of these weapons.

Since the new UI is aiming to be flexible and moddable, is there any chance of related options being added for the mod? I wouldn’t expect something as complex as choosing which versions of each weapon to use, but maybe just a toggle for the pack or classic sounds or something. Just a thought!

The bucket icon pack is one of the component vpks, yes. If so desired it can be removed.

Oh yeah, forgot to ask what the SFX situation is. Are you using the game’s vanilla sounds or new sounds? Or are they a mix of the new sounds or the old sounds, etc. Understandable if you wanted to keep stuff like that secret.

Hoping to finally play through Black Mesa with this pack before the apocalypse happens which…well the Amazon rainforest is on fire so…it’s probably soon… :sweat_smile::woozy_face:

In any case I’m working on a sound pack with more realistic and punchy sounds, I’ll post it here when it’s done.

It’s not a big deal but using the default satchel and adding the yellow tag that moves about would be all that is needed to make classic. And it’s not material or flesh.

Although the satchel particle effects using the default explosion is no good somone could mod that to be better and more C4 looking explosion…

Anyway I suppose you thought about this already for the satchel yellow tag and just figured it was not worth it.

Yeah this is good… I hope it get’s used in the Pack. C4 does not use this explosion though.

I was watching the TV series Dark Skies last night and I heard the Magnum sound effect from Half Life on episode 3 or 4 during a shoot out. Also Snarks sound a lot like the Hive insect creatures that are in the show also.

Aside from adding a yellow tag to the satchel the detonator prop looks quite different and I don’t think it’s all that big of a deal either simply making it look similar as a re-skin would suffice and go perhaps the HD route look aesthetically.

Perhaps combine these two have an arm dial switch where the button used to be but keep the fire button on the top of the detonator like the Black mesa version?
The Hive Hand could do with a re-colour of it’s skin as the color is different between Black Mesa and the Original This could be done with Hue Value and Saturation in a photo editing suite to match the original colors. Would not take long at all…:slight_smile:

Fact of the matter is you will get called out for not doing all of them although it’s not that bad to not do them all people will want a whole set.

Couple of other ideas… Add red light on top left to the tripmine to make classic. For the sake of doing something even if quite small will do the trick to make unique.

Anyway This was an effort to make you do a little something rather than nothing about the 4…

Sorry for double post… I stumbled on a Mod still in development but it’s stuck in a bit of a Rut due to having no HD Gluon RPG and struggle with the Crossbow, but the work is really quite good.

I had a thought because the person doing the Mod names SPRKH has done both a good satchel and a snark.

But looking at the Gluon great Idea for the Light animation, but model does not look to same standard.

Isn’t that mod for GoldSrc Half Life? They can’t really trade materials. HLR doesn’t seem like it’ll ever come out, as is usually the case for really cool looking mods. :[

It can be ported there are loads of old weapon ported so that’s not an issue I don’t think… Plus they will have originally model files and textures.

Also the last thought I had has been about the actual Hornet Projectile model.

Potatoemuffin did a nice model but it’s so small it’s not really noticeable but none the less here was a quick re-color of his skin…

Anyway Good Luck with the rest of it… The whole thing with the Crowbar sound I think is that you have to have HL2 Stunbatton code or Use Stunbatton CPP but call the model of the crowbar then you get the extra sound properties that the HL2 crowbar does not have…

Keeping my fingers crossed on this project.

BTW the snark seems to be Sproilys Snark Fixed…A small recolor again to show that it can be closer to Original… Not sure what the deal is with giving the snark a yellow back pattern though? The main issue I have with the Black Mesa model is the Beak looks terrible compared to this model.

This has a chrome effect akin to the original model but… It has lighting issues that pop in and out, although it is possible to get the more chrome looking effect just saying.
