Black Mesa: Blueshift

Nice work! I’m assuming the ‘gun up’ is going to be for safe zones, ala HL2’s ‘gun down’ in places like Eli’s Lab?

Haha no thats just an animation that plays when you stand still for long enough lol.

Ah, shame :stuck_out_tongue:

You should probably do that. I’d suggest to remove the weapon* until you get to the combat part of the game, but some would probably not like that change.

*= have the game remove the weapon once you leave the shooting area, and give it back once you wake up from the elevator crash.

I think it should be kept down until the player tries to shoot.

it is going to be like how it is in hl2, basically you can’t kill people until shit hits the fan.

I’m going to need to find a work around though because well if you get the gun at the armory you’ll be able to just go around shooting glass and whatever else which i think kind of breaks the immersion a little bit :s

Any prop or func_breakable breaks, trigger an env_fade and a message.

SUBJECT: CALHOUN
STATUS: FIRED
POSTMORTEM: SUBJECT FAILED TO RETAIN EMPLOYMENT

There was an HL mod I played that did that.

Haha, that sounds pretty awesome honestly.

Personally I think it’s a bit weird to walk around with your handgun out anyway, but oh well. Maybe I can just bind a key to cl_drawviewmodel 0 and turn it back to 1 when the action starts. I already debate on whether I want to play hudless or not (since why would Barney have a hud?).

A very good point, haven’t thought of that yet.

the BMRF must have really modern helmets for their guards

also, it’s a game, do you worry about the hud in fantasy RPGs for instance?

That’s not the point, Valve specifically made the HEV Suit as an in-universe explanation for the HUD, that’s what Gordon in fact sees on his helmet.

fixed.
Seriously, though, I don’t think anyone wants to get into that debate.
It’s a game, why does it matter if there’s an in-universe explanation for the HUD or not? What matters is that the player has a readout for information the player character would have, such as how much ammo they have left or whether or not they have too many holes in them. And AFAIK, the suit was more an explanation for the massive amount of damage Gordon can sustain.

“The HEV Mark IV suit worn by Freeman in Half-Life has a built-in flashlight, Geiger counter, morphine administrator (which allows Gordon to function normally even after serious injury), an optional Long Jump Module which allows jumps over large distances (greatly increased horizontal range; vertical distance is elevated only slightly), a radio, tracking devices, and a heads-up display (HUD) which tracks health status and weapon ammunition usage, as well as including a weapons management system. The suit contains an on-board computer system that constantly monitors the user’s health and vital signs, and reacts to any changes in the user’s condition with activations in the aforementioned apparatus, and a soothing female-computer voice”

Isn’t HL’s wiki 90% speculation citing nothing but the wiki itself? Pretty sure I’ve only seen that. Though to contribute, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything in-universe say Gordon has a HUD. The only thing I recall that does is the Hazard Course, and that’s clearly speaking to the player, not Gordon.

Black Mesa’s fun with out without a HUD IMO. Only difference is you can’t tell whether you’re going to die soon or not, so it forces you to play without assuming anything about you vitals.

I would cite the fact that the hud doesn’t pop up until you put the suit on as reason to believe the suit has a hud. :3

Gordon’s glasses detects if the HEV Suit is on or not. Adrian sees it through his hi-tech goggles. Barney sees it after he drank a beer and took effect only after he feels tight with his helmet, then he removes the strap of it. :3

Alright in light of this new info we have changed the mod to be hudless, with regenerating health so no more health/armour pickups and we have added ironsights so you can aim now with our new hudless realistic design. OR I could just say deal with it, its a game. If you need an explanation to enjoy it then just go with the BMRF standard issue helmet comes with 2 small projectors that project a hologram onto the iris of the wearer keeping him up to date with physical and weapon related info.

also berny can now shot web

Oh and this is also our theme song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2j8-_vIplso

Have you tried This?:

(In console, Of course)
sv_cheats 1
bind x “Impulse 200”

Impulse 200 raises//Holsters a weapon, Despite the fact you can still fire even though the weapon isn’t “there”.

Ha, I didn’t know that. Amazing, thank you!
