Black Mesa: Blueshift

The weapons shouldn’t be changed at all. They’re supposed to be the same. The HD pack also updated HL’s weapons.

only thing that would need to be changed is the batteries, a easy way would be replace the batteries model with a guard helmet, and add a second battery type that gives more and use a vest for the model. ( all hev chargers and suit batteries would just be props)… problem would need models.

I’ve seen people making health kits using just brushes, and making new func_ entities so I dont see the problem actually :/.

I think the problem lies in the fact that the only coded thing that charges the player are the charger and battery. Unless a stripped version of Black Mesa was released as part of the mod then replacing the model would mess up your vanilla Black Mesa.

Unless you can create mods for Black Mesa after the Steam release, I guess this will have to be a separate mod, including all the necessary files from BM, which would mean a lot of duplicate files.

I guess it’s possible to work around that with junction shortcuts, but I’m not sure if it’s feasible.

Hmm what’s this.

“Are you sure you know what you’re doing?” computer blows up

Could it be?

It’s the way you will pass after the guard let’s you pass through if you have the vest and helmet.

Why is “Caution” mirrored on that yellow pillar thing?

I couldn’t at the time be bothered fiddling with the texture settings because it was late at night but I will get around to fixing it haha… eventually.

First bug squashed

I like to think that it is starting to take shape. I have the rest of the area greyed out so at the moment i’m just detailing it section by section so should have this whole section finished in a month or so.

I am in need of some urgent help with that second image, the whole computer area (the one where the scientist blows it up) is looking really bare and i’m just out of ideas on how to execute that whole section so if anyone was good at concept art or had some ideas that would be really great!

Look on ModDB, there are plenty of concept artists.Though you’ll need to look for an artist who does it for free I guess :p.

Sshh, we need the good concept artists.

Looks good so far! Keep it up

This looks great man! Love it.

A tip regarding this remake:

Release every chapter as it’s completed. It’s hard to give feedback simply based on an image as there’s no context for it. The feedback you get will be better in quality once people get a chance to playtest it and take in the environment. The aesthetic details, like what you are requesting help for, can be subsequently polished over different iterations of the chapter.

By doing this, you give the community more motivation to help, which will in turn will increase your own motivation and improve your product. Also, in the event that you no longer want to do this project, it makes it easier to hand it off to another person/group.
