Looks great! I love the outdoor intro screenshot. Dem displacements.
Can I borrow some of your skill? Just for a week, you’ll get it back. :retard:

I like it so very much. So much improvement. Please release a trailer of some sort! Teaser?

Today is a good day.

Looking very nice so far, I like what you’ve done in there with the crane and the underground road.

Thanks guys! Glad you’re liking it so far!

Makes working on it so much easier.

@skyms2663

I can see you’ve been busy with this first third of the game, and… well that’s quite something. o_o

For the Duty Calls pics, I can say you made quite some good work without being too close from what Black Mesa already did in term of design. I would recommend though to make visible that the player’s progression is parallel to the direction towards Black Mesa’s South Exit. I believe that’s one of the key elements in Blue Shift’s storyline which was represented several time in the original game, and that you should make it clearer, if possible.

For the lobby, well good thing it’s more open that the original one. Still, as much as I know of the U.S. seals, I believe it would be better to have the seal of the Department of Defense as opposed to the presidential one which was used in Blue Shift. It would be coherent that some parts of the facility were raised with fundings from the DoD (which made Aperture rage ^^). Also, early versions of Half-Life levels were using the DoD seal (https://combineoverwiki.net/wiki/File:Hl_early_BJ_30.jpg and https://combineoverwiki.net/wiki/File:0001-3dfx_barney3_fall.JPG).

And now for the living quarters, I think that’s my favorite part in your work, mostly the fitted cafeteria inside that cave. The outdoor part itself seems perfect in its layout, but I would recommend to change the buildings. They seem too much dull for personnel dormitories, and just make the place looks like a topside industrial facility.

I think that’s all I can think of, apart from that nice blue HUD (kudos for the armor symbol). Anyway, keep on the good work.

I didn’t notice that one, good catch. I was going to suggest the Great Seal, but I decided to Blue Shift. Turns out BS doesn’t use the Presidential Seal like you mentioned, it uses the DoD one you pictured.

I didn’t get a pic, but it can be seen in this screenshot, dispite the angle it’s obviously the DoD seal (slightly darkened and without the words):

Ah yes, you’re right BS do use that seal, I’ve just replayed to check it. My mistake. ^^

Wow these look really nice. I’m surprised by the amount of areas that are already flushed out and that it’s playable up to 1/3. You guys have done an amazing job in a short amount of time. Good luck finding the help you need. I’ll have to do another play through of the original before I can really make suggestions as it’s been awhile now.

Now thinking about it;Are you even allowed to use that logo?
As far as I know, people like to make a huge deal out of things like this due it being trademarked.

I suppose that would answer the question, but thinking of it I have no idea how video game developers go through to add one of those seal. I suppose they modify them a bit (not sure if the removal of the text around it count as a modification) or create a fictitious one (like in Max Payne for example). Still, that’s clearly the DoD seal present in Half-Life’s early version and Blue Shift, so frankly I don’t know. :\

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m not versed in American seals as I’m Australian haha so had no idea there were different ones!!!

I shall correct that and put the DoD one even if it means I will be arrested haha

I would assume that using the seal would be allowed under Fair Use. I think all that copyright stuff is just so you don’t have people sending out letters with fake DoD stamps all over.

If you want an alternative, I’d suggest the Great Seal of the United States, although it’s not as pretty. I seriously doubt there will be any problems though.

I’ll just use the DoD one

That new picture of the starting point?
Now with rail support and power line? That is what I want to see!
Previously, it’s awkward and impossible for a metal rail to stand on its own. With the supports, it looks great!
PS: Those power line fits the emptiness feeling I had previously about having not enough buildings. Somehow the power line seems to work better than adding more buildings.

Thanks for the comment but ugh i hate to do this but you have to read! I have said time and time again that it was a total wip shot, like 8 or 9 hours work. I am not completely brain dead and understand that Black Mesa didn’t have some magic quantum levitation technology that could lift the whole entire tram system lol.

That’ll teach me for being an eager beaver and releasing early wip shots :stuck_out_tongue:

If you created that in just about 9 hours, I would literally kill someone to see what you can do in 3 months.
