Black Mesa: Blueshift

Man, you are doing really great stuff. I wish I had the time/energy/talent to work on my reimagining a little more.

I am just going to dump 5 pics in this post. I won’t hijack your topic.

I have so much more left to do with some custom textures and learning lighting a bit better, in the areas that I have at least brushed out.

Pictures probably look unrecognizable out of context, but placement and design is very true to original. Just trying to update it to BMS motif, and flesh some of Gearbox’s frankly fucked up design.

You lighting generally looks bland and flat.

All of the guards wear helmets and no vests. Chris Horn seems to have a lot of lockers.

Well, Storm’s a pretty cool guy.

Figured out how to create characters using Black Mesa’s character creation system

Speaking of characters, guess who!!

<3

It’s Otis Laurey! Is that a new face or a new model?

What’s that white logo on Otis’ vest?

It’s a police badge. It’d look better without the vest though.

Maybe he won the price in a cereal box and wants to show that shit off.

Oh my god…
You made…
Oh my god

Also just a suggestion, but you should also model an ‘open’ type of vest for some of the dead guards who’s vests you take, so it looks like they’re wearing them. Some still animations that could be used for this are “injured1”, “injured3”, and “OC_Corpse_Flipped_Before”.

Alternatively (and I don’t know if this is possible, but it would be easier if it is), you could have dead guards (using one of the above animations) with the vest applied and have a pickup ‘frozen’ in place under it. When you grab the pickup (giving you armour), it also activates a trigger which changes the submodel on him from 2 (vest) to 1 (no vest). Same can be done with helmets (assuming what I’m saying makes sense and is possible).

Just great!

But u can just make this model static, like they did with Eli and Kleiner in Black Mesa, so it doesn’t change to another model

We are turning Otis into a stand alone character who will appear a few times throughout the mod.

Fuck yeah, Otis!

From what I know, Otis has a black version (unused) in Blue Shift.

God I’m so excited for this…

Oh woooww!!! btw. i didnt like blue shift as much as the original game back then, but its somehow cool and way better than opposing force. and your remake looks very very very nice so far!!! very nice!! very well done, the otis!!

I see a future of Opposing Force remade with Black Mesa’s assets.

I don’t think it’d be possible with Black Mesa’s code, what with the ridiculous amount of new weapons and AIs.

They should name him Carl
