Actually it wasn’t for that it was so the thread would get back on a rail.
Not because he has a difference of opinion, but because I thought they would just keep going at it.

Well, VALVe could be waiting for BM’s release, people would get more interested in half-life again, and they keep their interest through episode 3 media.
I believe it’s the other way around. Valve may not -under any circumstance- wait for BM to be deployed. The BM team is recreating a masterpiece designed by Valve (pretty much like painting Monalisa again but with bigger boobs, hehe). No one can guarantee this will be the ubber ultra success everyone is expecting it to be.
That is the best analogy I’ve ever heard for this mod. Ever.
well the waiting is now reached 5 years, (and rising)but because of this the mod has really high expectations, no wonder they want to fine every single part of the mod.
i hope however that this comes out in 2010 jan-febr…or maybe april
how about march ?
You know, thinking back on it: I’m amazed at how this single thread had almost instantly found it’s way to every corner of the internet, and the amount of attention it had garnered. Just surfing around the internet, not actually looking for it, I found it on 2 websites. At any given time there was 300+ people viewing this thread. Hell, it took me over a half an hour before I could even get into the forums because of the overload.
I think with this it becomes obvious. When Black Mesa is released, the internet will explode from the overload and the world will end.
But not March, that’s blasphemy!
Edit: :ninja:
pendulum is now my favorite person due to his awesome avatar. (I miss my cable… I missed the whole last season cuz all I have is basic.)
Back to the topic.
This “release date” fury is the reason why MOST dev team dont like making any hints about release dates or times. (ask gabe) As a matter of fact, if memory serves me correct this was the ONLY time something other than “when it’s done” was officially announced.
If you give something up, people invariably read more into what is said. They imply something more when passing on the information, they spread it around for a while and before you know it, they call it the God honest truth. THEN they get pissy when you point out that what they believed was the truth had no factual basis. THAT my dear friends is why you have folks that come here swearing up and down that the dev team have failed a target date “multiple times” when actually, this is the only time.
It is all fine and dandy to make bets, and raise your expectations of the finished product to the heavens, but lets keep our heads and remember the facts. We were hoping to get it done by end of business 2009, but we didnt. :s niffle: Our fearless leader told you we wont make it, and that is it. If you try to read more into his statement, you may set yourself up for more disappointment.
Shit happens right?
All these whiners need to stfu.
Thanks for the update, I’ll be waiting for this mod with increasing excitement.
You said it better than I
But if they heard it on the internet, then it must be true, right?
I laugh out loud everytime I see the “When it’ll be released” headline on the frontpage. “We have commited to releasing in 2009”. Damn
Imagine how he laughs everytime someone tell him something REALLY funny then.
Well that’s kinda sad, cause it means that Black Mesa will be released in 2012 =\
dont jinx everything! :fffuuu:
If I say you’ve worked on it for six years, you’ve worked on it for six years. Got it? :fffuuu:
We do what we can to help.
And knowing that, Catz still is a Christian believer! :fffuuu:
You’re not the only one.
Lucky.
There’s a few feet of snow just outside my door.
Well, technically I COULD go outside, but it would take a while.
Yeah, my condolences on the mod not being released to it’s original inspired date. However all things considering this year has been burdened like any other year with problematic scenarios leading to unfortunate situations. I think Dead before Dawn was one to fit in that category and even though they got it released, it was terribly bug ridden. Still this information is coming out on a timely basis and the project itself is not completely abandoned like other mods have become. I have yet to hear another update on “They Hunger: Lost Souls” from Black Widow Games about how far they are along with their project.
Like many have stated before there are other games that will be coming down the pike and I will be looking forward to them as usual. On a side note, as long as you guys don’t hit 12/12/2012, I am perfectly fine with any delay. Since we all know that the whole Y2K thing turned out to be just as horrendous.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
